Hedgehogs claim win over McDonald's
September 01, 2006 12:00am
HEDGEHOGS have finally humbled burger giant McDonald's after years of campaigning, forcing the company to redesign its killer McFlurry ice-cream containers.
Up to now the opening in the container has been large enough for hedgehogs to get their heads into for a lick of the left-over dessert a trap they have then been unable to withdraw from, so dying of starvation in untold numbers.
But from September 1, the wide-mouthed opening in the lid of the McFlurry containers will be reduced in size, making them too small for the sugar-loving animals to get their heads into.
"This is excellent, it is long overdue news," said Fay Vass, chief executive of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society....

Those guys are so ugly, they are cute!
Awww. They are adorable.
This is silly. Any good product designer, seeing the problem, would redesign the container, effective with the next order of lids. It really does not cost anything much, and shows you have a soul. Why would anyone chose years of bad publicity for a problem so easily fixed.
Ron Jeremy has an account here, in good standing as one might expect.
Of course I named him Sonic.
DINSDALE..................DINSDALE
Groundhogs were terroroizing my sister's gardens. She caught four of them in a few days baiting a trap with apples. Good thing for the hogs that she didn't know about the Mcflurry cups.
Fiesty suckers when they get caged!
Somebody should get them to do a tv or radio ad with the sound track from that skit.
Glad I wasn't drinking coffee when I read your post. :-)
Knowing how to escape from flurry containers is, apparently, not that "one big thing".
It's McDonalds fault that customers do not dispose of the cups properly?
Despite countless animal deaths of the exact same nature, Yoplait has never bothered to redesign their yogurt cups.
[and if your life lacks sufficient adventure, try getting a skunk unstuck from one].....:-P
"He nailed me head to the floor...but, he 'ad to really, didn't he?"
:D

Unless it is part of their style, ala Yoplait, which has probably killed more animals than a McFluffy cup.
He does, but he doesn't drop in any more.
