ABC to Alter Show on Pre-9/11 Run-Up

ABC plans to make minor changes to its docudrama on the run-up to the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in response to heated complaints from former Clinton administration officials that a number of scenes are fabricated, a network executive said yesterday . . .

The ABC executive said the "adjustments and refinements" are "intended to make clearer that it was general indecisiveness" by federal officials that left the country vulnerable to terrorist attacks, "not any one individual." The executive, who requested anonymity because the network is making only written comments, said small revisions have been underway for weeks.

The network's move came as the children's publishing company Scholastic deleted from its Web site materials about "The Path to 9/11," developed in partnership with ABC, that were being offered to 25,000 high school teachers. "We determined that the materials did not meet our high standards for dealing with controversial issues," Chairman Dick Robinson said.

Democrats ratcheted up the pressure yesterday. Senate Minority Leader Harry M. Reid (Nev.) and four Democratic colleagues wrote to Robert Iger, chief executive of the Walt Disney Co., ABC's corporate parent, urging him to cancel the movie. The Democratic National Committee obtained more than 100,000 signatures on a petition demanding cancellation. Jay Carson, a spokesman for former president Bill Clinton, called ABC's plan to air the movie "despicable."

Translation: "The inconvenient truth about 9/11 makes the National Teachers' and Academics' Party, i.e. the Democrats, look like the wussies they are, offends the Almighty Teachers' Union, might make the children we are trying to indoctrinate more conservative, or - even worse - PATRIOTIC!"

Thank God the integrity of the American School System is being maintained for yet another academic year!

Before getting totaly out of sorts we should recall that Rush and others have a copy of the original. If there are cuts, the fact they were cut and the scenes cut will be well known and widely discussed.

There is a good possibility that cut scenes will receive more attention when cut than when in the movie. It's possible to missthem in the total movie viewing but when held out alone for discussion can't be missed.

The process may end up being worse for the Rats thn if they left it alone.

This is censorship pure and simple. The signatories to this letter should all face impeachment hearings for violating their oath to uphold the US Constitution. Our elected boneheads should not be in the business of censoring any media outlet.

I had suspected this thing would get changed in all the important places. I am sure there are no actual changes, that there were multiple versions of each scene shot and one set got prescreened to certain lefties and to Limbaugh. Limbaugh was favorably impressed and the lefties screamed as they were intended to do, so the other, preapproved version will actually be shown, but in the meantime, lots of conservatives will tune in and give them great big ratings and the lefty show will be adjudged a terrific success at showing the approved "truth." When Limbaugh cries "foul" he will be accused of hypocrisy because he had liked it before airing.

FOX should contact the producers and get permission to air it. They could advertise that they intend to show the movie in it's original entirety next weekend.
btw - one of the producers is Iranian. He was on Hugh Hewitt's show yesterday.
