Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation (Nasdaq: SWHC) has secured contracts to supply the Columbus, Ohio Police Department and the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Police (DFW) with the company's advanced-design polymer pistol, the M&P40.
The agreements call for 1,875 M&P40 pistols to be shipped to the Columbus Police Department and 305 M&P40 pistols to be shipped for use by DFW Airport police officers.
Tom Taylor, Smith & Wesson's Vice President of Marketing, said, "Since the M&P Pistol Series was first introduced in November 2005, it has quickly changed performance expectations in the duty firearm test and evaluation process. We are proud to support the men and women of the Columbus Police Department and the Dallas Fort Worth Airport Police, and are pleased to add them to the growing number of law enforcement agencies that have selected M&P pistols."
S&W semi auto and a Breitling watch to boot.
My kind of guy.
Take no prisoners - with style!
SWHC...Check out their stock chart. Wait til they win the Army contract. Note: No more than 3% of your money in one stock!
This is an MP-40
Akin to a CZ-75 or more akin to Glock? Haven't seen one myself.
I want one, and I am a die hard Glock fan.
Some people whove shot them swear they point better and are more accurate than Glocks also.
John Farnam, Chuck Taylor and Massad Ayoob have also spoken highly of this model. Its the first smith and wesson gun, aside from the scandium 357 magnum J frame snubby, that Ive had a desire for in..well...years.
Nice watch.
--much better than that silly new Browning with the rimless .22 Hornet lite--
"Nice watch."
Looks to be a SuperOcean.
I purchased a new M&P 9mm right after they came out. The slide stop spring was so weak that the slide locked back every round. Wondering how this pistol ever left the factory I wrote S&W a nice letter inquiring about quality control and received a terse reply requesting the pistol be shipped back. Not wanting to pay shipping I called to see if they could send me a new spring, they asked if I was comfortable changing the slide stop, (as they come as a swagged assembly) I was so the nice fellow I talked to dropped it in the mail to me. Dropped it in and haven't had another malfunction. It really is a nice pistol and the interchangeable grip straps make it easy to fit the gun to your hand. Hopefully the problem I encountered was isolated to early run pistols. Anyone else had this problem?
The buzz is that S&W is making a 45 acp versionof this pistol to enter in the Army's test for a new sidearm. That is the one I want.
I prefer the GMT Master. Had it since 82. Opened for the first time last year for cleaning and new crystal.
Not quite. His tie is hideous. :)
It is good to know that S&W is selling guns to someone.. Because after their 2000 agreement with the Clinton aministration's gun control agenda, they will never, ever sell another one to me no matter how good they are. Of the 22 firearms in my safe only one says Smith & Wesson on it and it is a model 15 .38 spcl. manufactured in the '50's. They can keep their "Clinton approved" firearms and I will gladly spend my money on things like Sigs, Berettas, Glocks, Colts, Rugers, etc...

GMT Master is nice. Black dial, Black and Red, or the Pepsi model?
I switch off between my bluface Superocean and Seadweller.

Good catch. I wouldn't wear that tie if I were dead in a casket.
Fifteen posts to get to someone who didn't get the word.
Smith and Wesson is no longer the company who made the deal with clintoons. They are gone. They fled back to England.
Smith and Wesson is now an American owned and operated company. They have nothing and I repeat, nothing to do with the clintoon agreement.
There is no longer a reason to put an American gun company out of business. They're on your side.
I agree Hydro, I personally pack a 1911 and "never leave home without it". Wonder if this new S&W is a double/double, or double/single, or a good old fashion single like my 1911? I hope it's not a double/double cause if it is I will take a pass on it.
