I was saving this for the November elections but I thought now is the time to post it. The reason is the Florida primary elections. There are those who claim to be conservative but they aren't happy with Katherine Harris or Charlie Crist as the winners. Well, sorry to say but "tough". We don't always get what we want and politics are sometimes all compromises. The hope is the compromise furthers your cause. And our cause is victory in our war against terrorism and liberalism. Yes, I said liberalism. I'm not as afraid of losing more of my rights to some guy in the Middle East as I am to a majority party of Kennedy's, Pelosi's, Kerry's or Schumer's. We are at war and luckily, we're still at the ballot box stage where it's simple and easy. I don't want to hand over a liberal country over to my child when I could have done something about it.

Hold your nose, go to the Republican Headquarters and volunteer. You won't like the alternative if you don't.

A perfect handgun weighs nothing, has no recoil, a ten-inch barrel for high accuracy, and a 30 round magazine. Oh yes, the barrel retracts when not in use to one inch long, so it fits in your pocket.

Forgot shoots around corners never hits innocent parties and cooks and cleans.

Even though I've been called "a border troll", I'll be voting Republican.
Even if I have to hold my nose. The alternative just stinks a whole
lot more.

The Democrat Noise machine is clever. They don't bother to address the points they just scream "Bushbot" and the Conservative Establishment falls all over itself trying to prove "we are not".

I fear the Conservative Establishment has just gotten too PR stupid to win anything anymore. Use to be the Conservative knew how to stay on offenses, now days they spend all their time recreating the Democrats spin lines.

STAY on offense Conservatives. Who cares what the Always Whining scream. Simple response.

Better a Bushbot then a Kerrybot.

"There are those who claim to be conservative but they aren't happy with Katherine Harris or Charlie Crist as the winners."

Not to pull you off the thrust of this thread, but what possible gripe would "conservatives" have with Harris or Crist? Is it the tired old "conservatives can't possibly win" diatribe again? What???

Exactly. There's never been a politician I've agreed with 100%. But I'll sure fight for a GOPer who I agree with 80-90% of the time (even if my pet issue isn't in the 80 or 90%) rather than the Dem that I might agree with 10% of the time.
No snit is worth a Liberal gov't.

I have a lot of problems with president bush on several issues and have aired my grievances about him on this site several times as many others have as well.

That said, he is the leader of our Nation in a state of war and is under constant attack by our opposition. It is abundantly clear that I and the rest of us are not going to change him around to our side of positions but that matters little anymore since he is only president for the next 26 months. For now we need to stand behind the president unequivocally and focus on keeping control of both houses. The opposition is playing a game of divide and conquer with us, as we continue to distance ourselves from bush it feeds the perception that it is wrong to stand behind bush thus further depleting voter support of loyal republicans standing for election. If you think bush has done little for us now, wait and see what he can get done with a democratic house in which has been the most conservative out of the 2 houses. If they get a hold of the senate, we will get no more good judges and the war on terror will be severely at risk.

If we dump bush, we do so at our own peril. I for the longest time now, has stated that the party and conservatives should take a independent course away from bush, I was wrong. We all need to be adult enough to reconcile the fact we will not get everything we want and fight for what we already have.

My philosophy -- which is counter to some of the purists on this site:

When voting, I look at the two people most likely to win. I will take a conservative over a “moderate Republican” if I can get it. I will accept a “moderate Republican” over a RINO if I have to. I will live with a RINO over a Demoncrat if I must. I will not vote for a Demoncrat under any circumstances. Neither will I a vote for a conservative (regardless of the label he wears) if it means that a Demoncrat is sure to win (for example, in a 3-way race). If a conservative is only pulling 5%, 10% or 15% of the votes, all he is is a spoiler, not a serious candidate.

Good article. Mind if I use it as a point of discussion in my American Government class? I think my seniors could really wrap themselves around this one. They're mostly democrats.

Good op-ed and it nails a point that we should all remember come November 7th. Rush mentioned yesterday, in response to one of the "cut off your nose to spite your face" callers that the mistaken idea that teaching the GOP a lesson by staying home and giving Congress to the RATS led to 8 years of Bill Clinton. Now, in a war with people who want to kill us just because we don't worship a pedophile like they do, we can't afford to let the RATS regain power.

From the article:

"...pay attention to NRA ratings and endorsements."

I just met with Arlen Specter last month. He's not up for reelection this year, but he is still bragging about being endorsed by the NRA. I could be mistaken, but I believe that he said that he was "A" rated.

Rated "A" or even an endorsement for a man who voted to ban weapons in the '93 Crime bill? He has said publicly that he would again vote for an 'assault weapons' ban if it came up in an anti-terrorism bill.

The GOA has recorded his gun votes and he scored an astonishly sorry rating of 55%. That's a failing grade on any test that I've ever seen.

Sorry, but when the NRA endorses a man like Specter -- despite whatever good they may produce -- I cannot take their ratings seriously.

For any PA residents, check out our voter's guide at www.foac-pac.org. Right now our primary guide is still up but it will soon be replaced with our general election guide. We divide the state into 6 regions. Click on your region to see how your candidates faired. Internally we have a score, but the recommendations are purely pass or fail. Either you are recommended or you are not. You will find a lot of races where there are no suitable candidates.

BTW, Santorum has a 64% from GOA -- also quite a lousy record for someone who claims to be pro gun. As of now, he will be rated as unsuitable because he has refused to help resolve some issues that are within his scope of authority to do. Even Arlen was smart enough to say that he would try to resolve them (in his effort to get Ricky reelected).

No, Arlen hasn't seen the light. He knows that if the GOP doesn't hold the Senate, he loses his chairmanship.
