Quotation marks mean they are quoting someone. It doesn't mean they question the veracity of the quotation. If the men had been common criminals, presumably they would have put "convicts" in quotation marks instead of "terrorists".

You can presume that pretty much every element of a news story is coming from someone's assertion to a reporter. When you single out something and put quotes around it, you're calling attention to it and essentially saying that its potentially suspect. For example, "Congressman Smith and his 'wife' attended a gala last evening."

No, quotation marks means it doesn't really mean what the word usually means.

lol.... You are both full of it. I find it hilarious that a democrat and a republican can both read the same nondescript news report and both come away certain that the report was biased against them. The world is full of nuts.

That is exactly what I was thinking when I saw "terrorists" some pinko commie wrote the article. My guess is there are 27 less Sunnis to murder Shites.

If Western journalists are giving away info they shouldn't then I have no problem with the Iraqi government treating them as an enemy of the state.

You forgot - "they" "announced". So-called, that is.

... the “sentence” of the “Court” upon you is,
that you be taken from this “place” to a lawful
“prison”, and thence to a place of “execution,”
and that you be there “hanged” by the “neck”
until you are “dead”; and that your “body” be
afterwards “buried” within the “precincts” of
the “prison” in which you shall have been
“confined” before your “execution.” And may
the “Lord” have “mercy” upon your “soul.”

That is beatiful.

I have enough problems with them siding with the enemy.

As Jennings and Wallace have told us, they are reporters first and Americans second. In the end, if they knew of an impending ambush on American troops, they'd keep quiet and report the casualties.

I find that to be a part of the problem as they do NOT hold such secrets regarding our own bases, troops, and prisons.

We've tried to bring up charges that potential terrorists were aware of the 9-11 plot and didn't alert authorities.

At what point does a journalist become an accomplice when he doesn't hand over known terrorists?

Another thing to ponder in your example...

CNN has admitted they knew of abuse, torture, and murder under Saddam but they kept quiet in order to maintain their Baghdada bureau.

After Saddam's trial, could they also be found to be knowing accomplices?

The United States is such a joke now. We don't know how to fight a war and have yet to kill one of the barbarians we have in custody. George Washington is rolling around in his grave.
