Board Decides To Take No Action On Anti-Nudity Ordinance
BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -- Town officials in Brattleboro said the solution to what some see as the problem of people hanging around naked downtown may be just around the corner.
It's called cold weather.
But the Select Board has decided to take no action for now on a proposed anti-nudity ordinance. That means that until temperatures turn nippy, those who object to nakedness downtown may just have to grin and bare it.
Select Board Chairman Steve Steidle said when things heat up again next spring, the town may take another look at the proposed nudity ban.
Brattleboro has attracted international attention in recent weeks as word has spread of its lack of a nudity ordinance and the habit of some young people to take advantage of that.
Today, thousands of sex offenders are making there way to this town.
Hmmm...haven't seen pres around...must be headed to VT.
Are the police waiting at the ready to arrest anyone who photographs them?
They should require teen nudity during the winter months. Either that or the old folks should just start taking their clothes off and chase the youngsters away.
The photographer has to be sure and have pens to sign the release form. Where are the nudists gonna keep a pen?
Useless without pictures.
Dozens of fat, sweaty middle aged perverts keep coming by to ogle them and after a few weeks of the creepyeye, they get skeeved and put their clothes on.
No release needed if they are photographed in public.
Real easy solution, ice water misting bottle.... charge the parents for the Policeman's time and cost of the ice and water.
But my number one question: Who is minding the children of that town?
And also a lanyard to hold ID cards?
"Was that your shutter clicking or are you just happy to see me?"
NEW YORK In 1999 Philip-Lorca diCorcia set up his camera on a tripod in Times Square, attached strobe lights to scaffolding across the street and, in the time-honored tradition of street photography, took a random series of pictures of strangers passing under his lights. The project continued for two years, culminating in an exhibition of photographs called "Heads" at Pace/MacGill Gallery in New York City.[snip]But not everyone was impressed. When Erno Nussenzweig, an Orthodox Jew and retired diamond merchant from Union City, New Jersey, saw his picture last year in the exhibition catalogue, he called his lawyer. And then he sued diCorcia and Pace for exhibiting and publishing the portrait without permission and profiting from it financially. The suit sought an injunction to halt sales and publication of the photograph, as well as $500,000 in compensatory damages and $1.5 million in punitive damages.
The suit was dismissed last month by a New York State Supreme Court judge who said that the photographer's right to artistic expression trumped the subject's privacy rights.
Well, doesn't that just make you want to rip your clothes off?!
"Are the police waiting at the ready to arrest anyone who photographs them?"
Why would they be? It is not illegal to photograph someone in a public place. Their photos would in no way be considered pornography regardless of the age of the nudists.
How about a big implied consent sign and public mug shots of the nudists (just the face)
This has to be one of those gag news stories that the MSM falls for.
"Know for it's active downtown."
I've been there in the winter and it really is a beautiful town. However, I believe everyone was fully clothed. More often than not nudity will detract from the beauty of a landscape. Of course, there are exceptions.
(standing naked next to them? - YUCK!)
