HARRIS WINS REPUBLICAN NOMINATION

POISED TO DEFEAT BILL NELSON IN NOVEMBER

TAMPA, FL—Congresswoman Katherine Harris received the Republican nomination for United States Senate this evening, and celebrated her landslide victory at campaign headquarters with nearly a hundred grassroots supporters in attendance. Harris received the nomination by winning nearly every one of Florida’s 67 counties, demonstrating voters’ confidence in her leadership and ability to unseat Bill Nelson in November.

Congresswoman Harris states, “I am thankful for the widespread support demonstrated by tonight’s strong victory. I’m thankful for the personal sacrifices made by my family, staff and many dear friends who all united on my behalf because Florida deserves better than Bill Nelson. When elected to the Senate in November, I will finish the fight I started in the House and ensure that Florida remains a place where hard-working families can keep more of their hard-earned money while living in safe and affordable communities.”

While the Harris campaign is very pleased with tonight’s election results, all of our energies will continue to be focused upon unseating the do-nothing liberal incumbent, Bill Nelson. Harris’ opponent has missed countless opportunities to provide the leadership Florida deserves in the United States Senate while she has a clear record of demonstrating leadership and delivering results for all Floridians.

While serving in the State Senate, as Secretary of State, and in the United States Congress, Katherine Harris has fulfilled her promises and fought for Florida’s best interests. Throughout her tenure in public office, Harris has championed legislation to bolster Florida’s economic development, cut taxes, reduce government spending and support traditional values. Katherine Harris will continue to do what is right for the people of Florida and work to advance their values as the next Republican U.S. Senator from the great state of Florida.

"Don't forget that a few weeks ago Rick Santorum was down 23 points in the polls. Now, he's pulled to within 6 points of Casey."

And many people will still discount Santorum but he's running a very good campaign against a pathetic liberal weenie challenger, Casey, who is trying the "Carter 76" strategy of saying and doing nothing so people have a blank slate to draw on... I have hope that Santorum will win. Reality is that Santorum's chances are not 100% and not 0%, and our efforts will make the difference of getting him over the hump to victory...

Given that the Democrats want to cut-n-run, raise taxes, and impeach Bush, I'd say there is a lot at stake here, why I say:

Broken-glass time, Republicans! Save the Congress!

"In particular, if Will McBride wants a career in politics, he needs to take this defeat as an opportunity to show he has the right political stamina to congratulate and support Katherine Harris. He got a good count this time, and the experience is something he needed. How he contributes to a Republican win in November will be a test of his political muscle and character as well. VOTE STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN IN NOVEMBER."

McBride did good too. He has a future, for sure.

It is now time to unite around this brave lady, no matter what the chances are for or against her winning the seat that Nelson now occupies

Ditto. It is not the critic who counts.

How do you account for the polls being so far removed from reality?

Ask Pontius Pilate

"I hope she wins too but in this case, I'm not optimistic."

It's a long shot, ... but if we keep in circular firing squad mode, then the Dems can focus on winning in WA, MD, NJ and MN.
If Republicans unite behind Harris and make Florida a real race, it not only gives a chance there but helps us in other close races.

Long-shot odds prediction: It is possible for us to have net Senate *pickup*, if Santorum, Dewine and Talent all pull off victories defending their seats, and we pick up NJ, MN ... consider FL, MD, and WA as longshots where we pick up one more. (If Steele faces Mfume, he's tied in polls..)

That's my hopes talking... my fears talking is "Senate Majority Leader Reid" and "President Hillary". Time to stop that train.
JMHO.

the primary voters have spoken, and now is the time to put that behind us and unit behind defeating the sub-par moronic liberal Senator Nelson.

Thanks for your support, that is what really counts NOW!!!

Looks like early demonrat reports of her ignominious defeat were greatly exaggerated.

Everyone fully expected Harris to win the primary.

The question is whether or not she's able to win the general election. It will come down to whether she can articulate to independent voters some clear and convincing reasons to dump the incumbent.

However, she has a problem. She has extremely high name recognition--and extremely high negatives. In other words, she has lost her opportunity to make a good first impression. That's a huge negative she's got to overcome.

Oh, quit being so pessimistic. She's hawtt* so of course she'll win.

*Or so I'm told. I don't see it, myself.

One must consider the demographic that considers her "hawtt."

(i.e., they're all older than I am, and I'm at that age where I leave little notes to myself around the house--and then wonder who they're from)

It must have to do with arching the back, like she did with Hannity and in that incessant horse picture (you know, the one where the stirrups are set way too long). :)

That is an eternity in politics. Anything can happen.

And with her campaign, it usually does... :^)

That one cracks me up. Looks like someone tall was on the horse before her and she didn't take time to adjust the stirrups.

Hey, there are 62 days until the election on Nov. 7. That is an eternity in politics. Anything can happen.

Let's hope that "anything" in this case is that she stops convincing her staff to quit and avoids the sort of industrial-grade stupidity demonstrated during the primary campaign.

Miami-Dade primary results--Katherine Harris 64.3%, McBride 13.7%, Collins 14.5%.

What significance do you attach to the results from a single county? Her percentage statewide was considerably lower, 50%.

Significance:

Many thought that McBride would do better in a heavily Hispanic county but Katherine did better than expected!

Whatever the media pundents tell you this election will be as wrong as their prediction in the Harris race.

Actually, I hope the media will continue bashing Harris and keep printing their bogus poll results.

All it's doing is suppressing Nelson's vote and giving him a false sense of security.

That's simply a crock-pot of horse dung.

The people who are "mad" at her are moonbat liberals who aren't going to vote for her anyway.

Harris has strong support among conservatives and Republicans.
