MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Conservative ruling party candidate Felipe Calderon won Mexico's ferociously contested July 2 election and is president-elect, the top electoral court said in a draft ruling on Tuesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, the court said Calderon had won with a margin of about 234,000 votes. In this latest draft ruling, the court said he could now be declared president-elect, the first time the election body has made this announcement.
The final, official decision is still to be voted on later in the day by a panel of seven judges, who have already thrown out leftist candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's claims of massive fraud.
Talk radio has been saying that Obrador will 'prevent' him from taking office.
Could get ugly (uglier).
I've heard that Obrador has a penchant for making a scene, picketing and parading with his homies all over Mexico City.
It doesn't really matter imo, Obragore will be creating a parallel gubamint and will have support&encouragement from other Central and South American regimes to do so.
"Selected, not elected."
Here we go again.
Dear Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador,
Boo Hoo Hoo.
Now get back to work, and quit whining.
The ILLEGALS aren't gonna like this. Oh well.
The BBC has reported in their ticker that Calderon was declared the winner (by the seven people vote, apparently).
The first thing Felipe Calderon needs to do is to arrest Obrador on the Mexican equivalent of inciting insurrection and put him on trial. They need to bring back the firing squad.
Why should they care? They're all over here.
CNN radio is reporting that the Panel voted to uphold the preliminary Ruling. Calderon is now officially President-Elect.
I don't think Lefties have lost an election anywhere since 2000 without crying 'fraud'.
Is Helen Thomas going to show up?
Let the games begin!
Yes.
Let's see how Mexico's 'John Kerry' (sore loser) is going to handle this news. IF he does what he says he will do, could there be a civil war? :o)
Everyone there will give big CHEER!
Everyone there will have moved here.
