Agree. I don't understand people who keep bitching about Harris while they failed to convince anybody else to run against her.
The district has a GOP registration edge that probably matches those numbers. Thus the numbers are meaningless. What is not meaningless is the Bush percentage in 2004 as a partisan baseline, which will probably erode somewhat, if the Dem is competent and funded, or the GOP nominee proves to have problems.
Katherine Harris begged Mel Martinez and the other Cuban Congresscritters to support her and they did.
I received many letters from Mel Martinez urging me to donate $$$ to Katherine Harris.
My heart breaks!!
When, oh Lord, will justice prevail????
He's pro-abortion for one, but also a ticking gay rights time bomb. He already supports a bunch of "gay rights" items -- how long do you think it would be until Senator Foley came out (or was outed (he was already outed in Florida, but the MSM didn't publish it), or blackmailed) and announced he would support gay marriage?
We don't need that kind of potential sabotage within our ranks.

Alex Sink is the wife of Bill McBride that ran against Governor Bush in 2002.
Which suggests Harris did not anneal to the district very well, I suspect, from 2002 to 2004. Bush went up some from his 2000 numbers in this area, widening his margin by 3%-4%.
It's Vern Buchanan vs. Christine Jennings.
So, what is the outlook on this race from a local perspective?
*Blink*
Why didn't any other Republican, save Jeb, who should've been the one, not enter this race ? Because KH and her supporters made it clear they'd burn down the whole damn plantation if somebody tried to take "HER" nomination away. They've cited endlessly that she was OWED this after her doing her job in 2000. If it was possible that she could win it, they might've had an argument, but she has proved since the Spring that this is a fiasco and completely unwinnable. As I said, I hope they're happy, because this is going to be the biggest landslide victory for a 'Rat since the two-party era in FL began.
She was elected twice to Congress by significant margins. She should pull out of the race to allow someone else to win the primary? If there is a stronger candidate, he/she should have run in the primary. The polls months before an election aren't necessarily the final word. I guess we should encourage Reps to pull out of the Presidential campaign in 2008 except for McCain and Rudy. Only they can beat Hillary.
This is all sour grapes stuff. It is debatable whether any Rep can beat the incumbent, Nelson, but the real poll is the ballot box. Harris deserves Rep support and the predominately Rep state government should get behind her.

Not bad for an "inept Senate candidacy." Next up is Nelson and the start of the real campaign.
Jim King celebrates victory.
Without showing any Christian humility, Randall Terry says he'll never concede.
I'm surprised one of the Cubanos did not run this time. Think there was some deal?
I never saw one of Detert's signs in either Sarasota or Manatee Co,and I was there on Monday. I only saw Buchanan and Hudson signs, especially Hudson. Hudson signs were the biggest and there were lots more of them. I think Hudson's ads backfired on him,Buchanan must be getting the sympathy vote. The signs may have been there and I may have missed them with my eyes bugging out at the gas prices being about 20 cents cheaper than my County.
You haven't, huh?
So Murkowski almost losing to a Clintonite in Alaska wasn't the result of an inept representative, only there because her daddy put her in the seat, barely scraping into office because of the President's coattails? Sounds like a candidacy in the running for most inept and selfish to me. Yet the GOP went out of its way to get behind her.
Of course she is more liberal in natural disposition and was the daughter of a sitting Governor. Not like Harris at all, who actually refrained from running in '04 for the sake of the party. Allowing another inept candidate endorsed by the W.H. to be put up, and he barely won.
If anyone is selfish and ungrateful here, it's the national GOP.
Very true, but the voters who turned out have decided and there's nothing we can do about it. The best thing from a national perspective is to concentrate our energies (and postings) on other races.
