"The fact is that Republicans and Democrats have the same objectives.
Democrats are loyal Americans. Republicans are loyal Americans..." a This guy is never getting the nomination.
I wish Rudy was right. I really, really do. But it appears to me that he doesn't understand the Democrat leadership.

Now that you mention, in anything but a warped universe, it would be interesting at least.

The attempt to do that by libertarians seems to happen every election and they post that way, so just keep your eyes open as the elections get under way and enjoy the show.
I would hope they would learn that you get a Democrat when you split conservative voting or talk conservatives into not voting.
Hopefully I will see less of that in 2006 and 2008.

Seriously, I have no idea at this point. I can only narrow it down. I really, really hope Hillary is nominated by the Dems as I'm convinced she can't win and we will be able to put up a candidate that might not have had a chance otherwise. I think the field is too wide open on the Republican side right now. Since I can't even suggest who will be nominated I certainly have no guess who will be the eventual winner in the general election. On the "one issue" thing, I have observed that there are few things that are deal breakers on our side but a lot of Republicans have one or more when pressed. Gun rights is one common one, abortion is probably more common and immigration is becoming a bigger "one issue" issue. I don't believe that a pro-abortion candidate will be the Republican candidate in the foreseeable future, likewise a gun-control advocate.
Sorry for the non-answer, answer but that's all I got ATM.
Best,
Tim

If one nonsense word can hurt Allen so badly, do you really think McCain can survive a whole national campaign? I maintain that if Hillary is the opponent we could run a right wing duck against her and win going away. This time I think our choice will be more about who the likely Dem candidate is than anything else.

Hopefully I will see less of that in 2006 and 2008.I see those posts too but I find they don't come so much from libertarians but by people who call themselves "paleo-conservatives" or "pro-lifers" or purist 2nd amendment types - the people who are often tagged as single-issue voters. I really don't think it's the libertarians who insist they are going to "sit it out" or refuse to vote for anyone who (fill in the single-issue blank). Liberarians? They get a little nervous over things like the Patriot Act and especially the War on Drugs but I don't hear them saying people should vote democratic or not at all because there isn't a "dimes worth of difference between the two parties". But I will be watching as you suggested.

It seems to me, he should have laughed at anyone that questioned him on that. He should have treated it as the pathetic excuse for an issue that it is. I'm sure he's got a dozen wannabe Roves telling him how to handle things and it shows. He needs to take more control of his campaign.

I agree. His suporters and there are many more who don't know it yet... don't care about MSM fabricated hype.
George Allen as president would be a blessing for America and the free world!

I'm in agreement with you. But, now that George Allen has proven that he is not ready for Prime Time, who do the Conservatives have?
Mitt Romney, for some reason, kinda scares me; can't put the finger on it. Tom Tancredo I like but, the last Congressman to be elected POTUS was Garfield in 1880.
So, tell me who we can get behind.

That bit of treachery won't be forgotten. It may have escaped your notice but Bush, Cheney, almost the entire Republican establishment including the Republican Party Chairman Ken Melman, are all but endorsing a mostly Liberal Democrat in Connecticut. There is a Republican running.
Is it treachery?
He endorsed Cuomo because he had a good working relationship with him and he put his city before Party. Pataki was an unlikely to win unknown who was thought to be a sock puppet of Al Damato who had his issues with Giuliani.
Just out of curiosity, who believes an elected official should put Party before his sworn duty to do the best for his/her constituents?

Some pro life folks do also go too far, so I agree with you.
You have to be balanced and get the most conservative candidate you can.
But once the candidate is set between the R and the D, any R is better than a communist fire breathing Democrat IMO.

How many politicians do ANYTHING substantial?
All the alternative choices to Giuliani are politicians who tell those with particular interests what they want to hear. And maybe occasionally cast a usually meaningless vote that endears them to those special interests.

And, let's not forget that the entire GOP hierarchy, including Rick Santorum endorsed another Democrat, aka RINO, Arlen Specter, against a great Conservative, Pat Toomey, in the '02 Pennsylvania Senate race. Has anyone seen Arlen out on the campaign trail working for Ricky?
Pay backs are hell.
