SHOCKED members of the public have begun laying flowers in memory of Steve Irwin at his family's animal park, Australia Zoo, north of Brisbane.
Meanwhile, radio networks in Brisbane were jammed by callers this afternoon who could not believe the Crocodile Hunter was dead.

May God bless him. He didnt deserve to die. Why him? I can think of so many other worthless assholes in this world that we can do without. Why does it have to be a nice guy like Steve Irwin?
What kind of father would take his baby underwater, with no breathing equipment, to face a deadly shark?
Don't worry, the picture is a photoshop. He did hold his child a debatably safe distance from a crocodile though.
I don`t know if it`s real, I found it on google. Call me crazy but I wasn`t suprised when I heard he died. Like that Bear guy learned who got mauled to death, wild animals aren`t pets and they aren`t toys. I saw a show with him once (Steve Irwin), maybe you`ve seen it, where he was grabbing the tails of one of the most poisonous snakes in Australia, and a few times he was almost bitten. It`s like playing with dynamite with the fuse lit. He want`s to do stuff like that, don`t be suprised if he gets blown up.
I'm getting really flamed because I posted that I thought that stunt he pulled with his child was STUPID and needless endangerment of a child. I really enjoyed Steve but didn't care for that one.
I keep hearing that - but it was too close period.
What a sad story. Irwin will be greatly missed.
He certainly lived life to the fullest and was "larger" than life! He will definitely be missed.
RIP Steve (1962-2006)
When Valentino-(Rudolph the actor, not the dress designer :^ -- died the mourners line snaked around the huge NYC blocks....and I believe some women committed suicide....
..for sure, many fainted.
No I wasn't there :) ...but I remember reading about it.
He was a frequent guest in our home, too. (So to speak) We'll miss him, too. May G-d give his wife, children and parents His shalom.
His mother died in a car accident in 2002, but his father apparently is still alive.
