The article is pretty long and even if the SF Chronicle wasn't on the list of media outlets which are expert-only, I would probably exerpt it anyway.

Having said that, all those interviewed brag about how American they are but none of them speak out against America's enemies (at least not in the article.) I wouldn't be surprised if the reporter didn't even both to ask the question to give any of them the opportunity to do so.

What really irks me is that people tried to equate Arab with Islam, when they only make up to 20 to 23 percent of the Muslim world. In America, Arabs are predominately Christian, in fact 70 to 75 percent of Arabs are Christians.

You hear almost nothing from non-terrorist Islam against terrorist Islam.
The lack of speaking out against the terrorist is what is causing this stereotyping IMO.

If the KKK went into a city to piss blacks off, most all of America would be open, public and vocal regarding their disgust of the KKK. We don't get this kind of thing at all on any scale from Muslims against the terrorist Muslim community and it is bleeding their own culture to death IMO.
