Very sad....Jerry has been there every year for 41 years ...his health must be really poor all of a sudden for him to miss this. Having been out in the street performing the other day leads me to believe something is really bad with him.
I have supported MDA since age 4 when I would walk neighborhoods collecting for the charity and well...Labor Day wouldn't be Labor Day without Jerry Lewis on TV.

That sucks - I never really cared for Lewis' comedy but thought his telethon was a great thing.

Wow... you know he's in a bad way.

Even his movies with Dean Martin? They were so silly they were hilarious.

Understand...his sense of humor is really a matter of taste. One can not however look at the man and not show an enormous amount of respect for 41+ years of dedication for MDA...it still gets major star power to the program.

This years on-air talent includes Celine Dion , Paul Anka, Goo Goo Dolls, Lee Greenwood, Dave Matthews Band, Joshua Bell, Jo Dee Messina, Daddy Yankee, Cheap Trick, Rita Rudner, Neil Patrick Harris, Ray Romano, William Shatner, Donald Trump, Sean Hayes, Lance Burton, Clint Holmes, Louie Anderson, George Wallace, Julie Roberts, Maureen McGovern, George Clinton, Village People, the casts of Phantom of the Opera, Shout, The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee, The Color Purple and the Wedding singer and more.

I'm sorry to hear this, and offer my prayers as well. Labor Day is all about the MDA Telethon. I'll of course watch much of the telethon and make our annual contribution, but it won't be the same without Jerry.

I always liked Lewis and could never understand all the bashing he gets. I would suspect it`s because of his loud manner, but that never bothered me. What bothers me was the idolization of him by France which to me was such an insult. If dogshiet idolizes someone you admire, how can you not be insulted?

This years on-air talent includes Celine Dion...Putting "talent" and "Celine Dion" in the same sentence is like putting "sane" in the same sentence with "Al Gore".

Where did you see/hear this? Just yesterday there was an interview saying that his health was better. Guess he had a setback. We'll miss him this year.
