MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., and his Democratic challenger, state treasurer Robert Casey.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean; Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del.; Sen. Lincoln Chafee, R-R.I., and his primary challenger, Cranston Mayor Stephen Laffey; actress and animal rights activist Bo Derek.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Rep. Christopher Shays, R-Conn.; Iraqi deputy prime minister Barham Salih; Ali Asghar Soltanieh, Iranian representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency; Teamsters president James Hoffa and Labor Secretary Elaine Chao; former Clinton adviser Lanny Davis and former Bush campaign strategist Matthew Dowd.
Looks like they tried vigorously - first WH Deputy Spokesperson Dana Perino, Sara Taylor (WH political director), the Architect & Josh Bolton to get the President's interview. Rome Hartman of CBS was the intermediary.
In theory you're right. In practice, the State Department has followed their own agenda for years. This is not new, conservatives have complained about it since Eisenhower was president. The problem is getting rid of career types in State versus administration department heads who change at least every 8 years, and usually within 4. Add to this the problem of past administrations packing partisan employees into these departments, and overcoming the problems this creates is a huge endeavor.
I give a lot of credit to Rice and Rumsfeld. They have done more to clean house than most department heads.
A simple, accurate point that is not made enough around here.
Thank you.
Instead of actually taking ON the Democrat noise machine and nuking their absurd Talking Points, the Conservative media seems absolutly fixated on shooting at it's own side ALL the time these days. Other then Rush Limbaugh and Hugh Hewitt NONE of the other talking heads seem able to graps the fact wars are won by offensive action Somehow I suspect spending all our time shooting at our own side is NOT going to end up being a wining tactic in politics.
That NewZealander Wiig appeared on CNN International & BBC and actually defending their kidnappers & blaming others. Shocking & shameful.
I'm listening to Stephen Laffey talking with Stephanopolus. I wish I was in RI so I could vote for this guy.
Geritol?
There are a lot of deaf ears out there when it comes to islam. Even within islam itself. They are now, as always, just interested in killing. Even if it is the killing of their own.
BTW,I would love to here your version of "Common Sense."
I love how Rick's opponent uses that lame "more troops needed". How the hell do these idiots know this? Are they military commanders on the ground?
See, it's naught but a silly sound byte. Us idiots out here in la-la land are supposed to hear about more troops and we shrug our shoulders and consider that it sounds good to us. More troops...hey, logical. More troops are better than less troops, right? Of course it's not but that's not the initial knee-jerk reaction without further study and that's what the libs count on.
Further, how about this command to "fire Rumsfeld"? Once again, a sound byte. The average schlub in la-la land has no particularly loyalty to Rumsfeld and, indeed, might off the cuff consider this might be a good action; shake things up.
Enlighten me, how many Repubs came out and demanded that Clinton fire Albright? Or Cohen? I mean they may have criticized but was there anything on the scale of this mantra to fire the President's lawfully chosen Secretary of Defense and/or State? You don't see many screaming to fire Condi and it's not because they think she is doing a good job. They know Condi is well-=liked by the American people while Rumsfeld could be considered on the edge. Which makes it nothing but political bullcrap, not a plea for the greater good of this country, right?
Thank you. It is very difficult to look at but just cuts right through the garbage spewed by the Left and the MSM.
Why don't we see these REAL images in conservative campaign materials?
Actually, I agree with you. Our side needs a lot more education than they would admit. My sense is some pundits want to perceived as being fair, or taking both sides to task. The problem is just as you suggest, we shoot ourselves in the foot all too often.
It's not just pundits either. Repubicans tend to go on and on about how great some jerk Senator or Representative is before disagreeing with what they said. The Democrats don't do that, they just wade in about how horrible the person is.
I'm reading the new Ann Coulter book, finally, and she nails the differences.
I'm rereading "None Dare Call It Treason" presently. The value of 40yrs of hindsight makes this book even more important today IMO.
Darn good example.
Better, why didn't the lamestream interviewer ask this very question. Yes I know it was Wallace but I don't trust that man ever since his father turned into a nut. But a manly journalist would have stepped right up to the podium and asked that very question.
Not is, was. Now the polls show them within the margin of error. I suspect the more Casey talks, the worse it will get for him. That has been the Democrats achillies heals all long. Their candiates have to open their mouths to get elected.
Casey could'nt b*tch slap his way out of a wet paper sack. Santorum did good!
Casey might want to work on his lisp and his stand on abortion.
I thought the same thing but read, recently and I forget where, that Russert said they DID discuss Plame but hey, I could be wrong. Give me some time to figure where I read this as I was surprised too.
