If Democrats win one or both houses of Congress in November's elections, as polls suggest is increasingly likely, President Bush's Washington will change dramatically.
Democrats will press to get out of Iraq. They'll mount investigations into the Bush administration's record that could rival those of Presidents Nixon in Watergate and Clinton in the Monica Lewinsky affair. They'll push a boatload of social-welfare legislation, such as raising the minimum wage, that reflects their pent-up priorities, while blocking the Republican agenda on social issues such as gay marriage, abortion and religion.
Those are some of the top plans that Democrats would pursue if they won power, according to interviews with Democratic lawmakers, strategists, staff aides and lobbyists. The tone and temper of the Democrats were reflected well by Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., the ranking Democrat on the House Government Reform Committee, in a conference call in late August. He'll become the panel's chairman if Democrats take the House.

Or, maybe the problem of the growth of socialism in our society is more simple than that. Could it be that people, even conservatives, just want to keep the programs which benefit them and will even vote for a Dem if he/she supports those programs? The Dems certainly have a political model that works well in a capitalistic society. It seems that whenever the Republicans have the helm of power they spend their entire administration trying to wean liberals and conservatives off their favorite pork and are always in a defensive position.
Republicans have done as well as they have in recent years not because they have gotten better but because Democrats have gotten so bad.
Just my opinion.
But what is their plan once in office????
1. Government run universal health care - translation: take over private insurance companies and hospitals
2. Solidify the entire education system by implementing a strict curriculum from pre-k through 12 that includes indoctrination classes in homosexuality (yes, beginning in pre-K)anti-religion (except Islam) and anti-family stories, books, lectures, etc.
3. Strict rules regarding employment: how many employees you must hire based on a company's revenues, the wages you must pay, how many of each ethnic group you must have
4. Strict federal regulations on privately owned land, including what you can do with it, when and how
5. Reduced military across the board
6. Strict reduction in private medical research and redirection of medical research to government operated centers on university campuses
7. Strict guidelines for all religious-oriented activities, including strict rules against any and all references to religion (except Islam) in any public facility
If you think I'm kidding, do some serious research. These are just the tip of the iceberg and they are well-planned already.
"What they will do is import more Mexicans than are in Mexico and make them citizens so your vote will no longer count for much. That is Democrats can't lose."
I thought that was George Bush's position. Oh, I forgot, he built a wall and secured the border while he was riding around taking the dune buggy PR shots.
You have to give Bush credit for a sense of fair play. In ten years, all the illegals will replace the babies liberal aborted with Democratic votes.
You are wise!
This should come as no surprise to anyone paying attention to recent political events. Some Freepers have been raising the red flag over a possible Democrat takeover of Congress since the first of the year. Other Freepers decided to ignore these warnings, and instead arrogantly acted as cheerleaders for Bush and the GOP Congress as they kept on promoting bigger government, more spending and liberal immigration reform. While Katrina and the Dubai Ports deal didn't help the GOP`s standing with most right of center Americans, the Dems kept on winning the propaganda war over the conflict in Iraq.
The GOP will be fortunate if they can hold onto the Congress. The generic polls are still trending for the Dems, but in individual races Republicans are holding on by a razor thin margin. Suggestion. Don't bet the farm either way.
I know you might think me a crazed nitwit for asking this, but in the event that these things do happen, what do you think the chances of an armed rebellion of freedom-minded and pissed-off citizenry are?
Hey...we did it once.....
Tell it, Cobra64
Okay Dinah. Here goes:
It was the weak kneed RNC and "Read My Lips" Bush that gave us 8 years of Clinton.
When you get right down to it, voting either republican or democrat keeps this nation on the path to destruction. Unfortunately the party whores on both sides of the aisle will never open their eyes to see the damage they are going. Actually, they don't care as long as they control the game.
Democrats through gun control will take away right to own a gun.
Beautiful picture of the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
Dear BW2221 & Eccl 10:2,
Maybe the GOP and President Bush have made some mistakes, spent too much and moved to the middle to try to bring some moderates and Democrats aboard (never works), BUT your attitude of "let's sit it out to teach them a lesson" will guarantee a Democrat win and 20 years of strife and woe for the USA and western civilization.
We conservatives have to live in the real world, that means hold your nose and vote GOP 11/06 & 11/08. Better an imperfect GOP congress and president than DOOM.
Fortunately, the scumbag Democrats cannot realize their dream of turning America into a French-style, secular-socialist welfare state until they control both houses of Congress AND the Presidency. They have a long way to go before they get there.
The pubbie party sold out.
They finally realizd they had the power, and what did they do?
They spent, and spent, and spent. Like kids in a candy store. Bridge to nowhere, etc. Hundreds of billions on NOLA, and they are still a slum.
Me? I just stock ammo. politicians should be hung.
All I can say is that I am glad that I am in my latter years of life. I pray for my grandchildren and what they may have to endure until His return.
Whose return?
Whose return?
There's only one person that is refered to with a capital H, His. (That is Jesus)
I know - I was being a little facetious. It was supposed to go:
"Whose return?"
"His return!!"
