EVER WONDER what it's like to be a pariah?
Publish something sharply critical of Israeli government policies and you'll find out. ..
This, at least, is what happened to Ken Roth. Roth whose father fled Nazi Germany is executive director of Human Rights Watch, America's largest and most respected human rights organization. ...In July, after the Israeli offensive in Lebanon began, Human Rights Watch did the same thing it has done in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Bosnia, East Timor, Sierra Leone, Congo, Uganda and countless other conflict zones around the globe: It sent researchers to monitor the conflict and report on any abuses committed by either side.
It found plenty. On July 18, Human Rights Watch condemned Hezbollah rocket strikes on civilian areas within Israel, ...
Human Rights Watch also criticized Israel for indiscriminate attacks on civilians. Roth noted that the Israeli military appeared to be "treating southern Lebanon as a free-fire zone," and he observed that the failure to take appropriate measures to distinguish between civilians and combatants constitutes a war crime.
The backlash was prompt. ...
In the United States today, it just isn't possible to have a civil debate about Israel, because any serious criticism of its policies is instantly countered with charges of anti-Semitism. ...
How did adopting a reflexively pro-Israel stance come to be a mandatory aspect of American Jewish identity? Skepticism a willingness to ask tough questions, a refusal to embrace dogma has always been central to the Jewish intellectual tradition. Ironically, this tradition remains alive in Israel, where respected public figures routinely criticize the government in far harsher terms than those used by Human Rights Watch.

Perhaps Ms. Brooks missed it when Howard Dean (D-DNC) called the President of Iraq (who happens to be a Semite) an anti-Semite.
The poster needs a barf alert as well...
"Israeli military appeared to be "treating southern Lebanon as a free-fire zone . . . "
Anyone find it striking that the poor Lebanese that the IDF was targeting were all supportive of Hezbollah prior to and during the recent war? Innocent victims? Yeah, right.
Human Rights Watch is a part of the Open Society Institute, which was founded and funded by George Soros.
Nothing else even needs to be said about their agenda.
Brooks Joins Amnesty International USA Board of Directors
Brooks said the treatment of civilians during armed conflict is an issue of increasing concern to Amnesty International.
In the region encompassed by the Arab League alone, with twenty-two nations, there are more than 300 million Arab Muslims surrounding a tiny island of 5 million Jews.
WOULD SOMEBODY PLEASE DO THE FREAKING MATH!!!?
I have encountered this FReeper many times. But today he finally got banned or suspended.
Critics like Roth write their criticism before the action starts. Does he show proof that Israel treated Lebanon like a free-fire zone? Of course not. He was ready to condemn Israel before the shooting started. Lefties are so predictable. Let me ask Mr. Roth which side abducted soldiers from the other side and fired rockets precipitating the hostilities? The fact is lefties hate Israel, and nothing it does will be justified in their eyes...unless of course all Israelis convert to Islam.
What a joke! They villify Republicans if they criticize, say, Jesse Jackson, calling them racists, but of course they can't take their own type of heat?
The Jooooish mod zotted him/her ? ? ? ?
Roth and his group are nasty leftist garbage who do not even support Israel's right to exist. They never, ever criticize suicide bombers. I saw Roth on the O'Reilly Factor and thought he was pathetic. This is a barf alert.

The two principal "human rights" organizations are in a race to the bottom to see which group can demonize Israel with the most absurd legal arguments and most blatant factual mis-statements. Until last week, Human Rights Watch enjoyed a prodigious lead, having "found" - contrary to what every newspaper in the world had reported and what everyone saw with their own eyes on television - "no cases in which Hizbullah deliberately used civilians as shields to protect them from retaliatory IDF attack."
He is accused of playing a far more active part elsewhere than in Wikipedia but I think you'll be satisfied.
Some 15 year olds are real punks you know.
I think it is ridiculous to have human rights watchers running around in a war zone.
They work for the enemy.
He was banned last month. I think the ban this time is likely to be permanent.
I think he is an expat Briton living in the US. It is definitely true that the British, to put it mildly, don't like the Jews very much.
