PHOENIX - An Army investigator has recommended the death penalty for four soldiers accused of murder during a raid in Iraq.
Lt. Col. James P. Daniel Jr. made the recommendation in report obtained Saturday by The Associated Press.
Daniel found several aggravating factors that warrant a sentence of death in the case of four soldiers accused of killing three men during the May raid in the Salahuddin province.

I can't even imagine that there are anti-military- though I surely know better; after all I do remember the Vietnam War...just hard for me to comprehend that we as a country send our young men and women off to fight our battles and then some of us sit at home just waiting for an opportunity to second guess or criticize their actions. At the very least you would think people would be willing to give our military the benefit of a doubt- What truly amazes me is that we still have people willing to join the military and fight for us. For that I am very greatful and I will never judge them in their actions that I know nothing about.
The above is a very nice version of what I am thinking right now. On these threads I have to consider the source of some of this crap that is slung around about the military- IMO it reflects worse on the posters that say it than our military.

If it so happens that these soldiers are suntanned to death I will lose all hope that America can win anything militarily. Its a sad day when our troops sacrifice so much for the good of America and wind up in some cell in Kuwait. Seems to me that these people should be provided the best, not mediocrity and rules of engagement that are so burdensome that death is the outcome whether they fire their gun or not. If they are found guilty and executed it will be a sad day for America.

The last Major promotion list included a Captain who lost his weapon during a routine meeting with a Sheikh and another who was convicted of DUI 3 times (something the military doesn't look kindly upon). Promotion rate from Captain to Major is well over 95% and about 99% for 2LT to 1LT and 1LT to CPT. It is tough to imagine who doesn't make the cut.
