Okay I'll try again more reasonably on the stay at home conservatives
ME

Posted on 09/02/2006 9:41:18 AM PDT by ashamedtobefromparkridge

Some sensitive democrat supporters got my previous post pulled and I admit I went overboard but I am just so angry at how ridiculous some people get.

The whole Idea that because the republicans haven't done everything you want you want them out and want the democrats in TO SEND A MESSAGE.

The only message it sends is you want Bush impeached or at least a long costly trial that will weaken the US in the world and embolden the terrorists.

You want a much better chance at much higher taxes.

You want a very good chance we cut and run from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Tell me these things won't happen if the dems take over and since when do conservatives want cut and run and higher taxes?

And why do you want the terrorists emboldened by a weakened Bush?

Yes he hasn't been perfect but the alternative is much worse.

The Republican congress under Bush has been both good and bad for conservatives.

But the dems would make it 100 percent bad.

I agree on Bush's immigration bill. But it's much better than anything the dems want and if the dems win that's what will happen.

And another point if a vacancy happens in the SC right now at worst we'd get a middle of the road person if the dems win they'd make the most liberal justice look like Rush in comparison.

Vote republican even if you have to hold your nose and work at getting better candidates in 08.

If you truly believe the dem you'd vote for is better you're probably misled at best but vote for him/her.

But just to send a message don't do it.

It took the dems 12 years to take control if they do in 06. Do you want to wait that long to take control back?

I've been disappointed in Bush myself. But when I think of the alternative I get nightmares literally.

The dems will go for impeachment, higher taxes, cut and run and no immigration laws. They may not get them but its certainly much more likely to happen.

A vote against the republicans either for a dem or in default by not voting period is a vote against anything happening good for the conservative movement.

Maybe I'm different because I'm not 100 percent conservative. Some of my views lean a bit liberal (the biggest is while I'm anti gay marriage I am pro civil unions. By the way many gays agree with me on that including my gay republican cousin). But I'd rather vote for a rep willing to make some compromises than any democrat.

We're never going to get eveyrthing we want. But we're going to get what we have taken away and definitely not anything more with a democrat congress.

And believe me I will need a barf bag and nose clips to vote for Judy Barr Topinka in November. I think I should have an ambulance at the ready in case.

This is the first governor or presidential race I haven't put time into since I was 8 years old. I even go back to before I was able to vote to Ford in 1976 helping stuff envelopes at 8 years old.

Heck I've even voted for a democrat or too WHEN HE WAS THE BETTER CANDIDATE! Not to send a message but because he was the better candidate.

And for those who think I'm a DU in disguise. Read my post history.

Or why the heck do you think I'm ashamed to be from Park Ridge? Dave Butts the Washington Redskins star? No her name rhymes with Sillary Flinton.

I DON'T agree on Bush's immigration bill. In fact, it makes me sick to my stomach to even think that a Republican advocates an open border. And we have many of them... many of them here on FR as well.

So there is the rub. I am hardly a single item voter, but this just kills me. It's like finding the girl of your dreams and come to find out that she is a serial killer.

So, bummer about those Republicans this year. They spent those 12 years digging their graves. If they (we?) maintain a majority, it's not because what they did. It's because they aren't Democrats.

What a way to maintain power.

Of course you are right on this. RINOs will vote for at least SOME of the things we support, while the dims will vote against EVERYTHING that we value.

"Something" is better than "nothing".

Remember, not only will we stand before the Creator of the Universe and give an account for every word out of our mouth, but also every vote with our heart and mind.

The problem is that the Republicans have failed to excite me. Without excitement, I become apathetic. When I am apathetic, I don't vote.

It's like finding the girl of your dreams and come to find out that she is a serial killer.

But what if she kills people you really, really don't like. Frankly, I see some upside potential to it. :)

Of course it's worth your time because even if you lose - your vote and others like it can keep the bad guys from getting a landslide which will help control them.

And you will know you did what you could instead of contributing to the problem.

My husband has been approached about running. He is thinking about it for 08.

If your husband uses the same logic you did in your last vanity, which was yanked, he must be a democrat.

"Sir, please spare me from the loons."

My main point is a RINO is better than a dem any day.

I absolutely disagree! A RINO is a cancer within that some, like you, will keep in no matter what. He makes the party look bad by the judgment he uses, and the media use them as God-like figures in order to make the rest within our party look backward. Example: John McCain is a hero to the media, but a thorn in the side of the party. Another example: Arlen Spector was the chief distractor within our party during judicial nominees, yet a hero within the media. Other examples are Lincoln Chafee, Bob and Elizabeth Dole, and Olympia Snowe.

Another reason RINO's are worse than Democrats is that Democrats, during campaigns and debates, use the RINO's words and lack of support for conservatism against other conservatives and the media eats it up. An example of this is when a RINO speaks out against the war. The media headlines the next day are something like, "Growing number of Republicans speak out against the war, causing split within the hawkish party!"

And, the greatest example of the damage done by RINO's is today's political climate. Republicans stand to lose harshly due to the amount of spineless RINO's representing us in the Senate and Presidency. When faced with the choice of getting a store-brand or the name brand for the same price, most people will pick the name brand. Likewise, when faced with a democrat-lite or a true democrat that speaks from his heart, the average voter will pick the true thing. That's why Bush's numbers are still dismal and will remain dismal.

Bravo!!! Usually when I vote I have to hold my nose and vote for the lesser of two evils. Conservatives won't stay home as there is too much at stake, ie security, judges, tax breaks etc. The Dems will just sell us down the river.

I don't think the demogoguing demorats are going to take ANYTHING.

I was thinking the same thing, wondering if I could be right.

Then I saw Larry Sabato on Fox News last night saying that the Democrats were going to retake the Senate and the House.

Then I knew I was right. He's wrong more often than Dick Morris.

I think the basic idea is, to some of us, it's hard to see the difference between the Democrats and Republicans. The Republicans are every bit as unprincipled as any Democrats and with a divided government at least we'll get gridlock making it harder for either of them to steal anything more from us.

Besides, when your enemy lies to you, you kind of expect it, but when your alleged ally lies to you it's much harder to take.

I think the hope is that it might scare some of them into pretending that they have anything but contempt for the voters.

Benjamin Franklin said we needed the fine art of compromise in government. We he alive today he would probably call the stay-at-home-weenies petulant little children.
