State Senator Arrested on DUI Charge After Accident [Kathryn Bowers of Memphis]

MEMPHIS, Tenn. State Senator Kathryn Bowers is charged with driving under the influence after a traffic accident yesterday afternoon.

W-M-C-T-V reports that the Memphis Democrat was treated for non-critical injuries at Regional Medical Center and released.

Bowers is one of five current or former lawmakers charged in Tennessee Waltz. She said this week she was stepping down from office because of health problems.

Police said a car driven by Bowers sideswiped a UPS truck. She was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and failure to maintain control.

Her attorney says he was looking into whether recent changes to her medication were to blame.

It wasn't just a "big brown truck" that Kathryn sideswiped. it was a big big tandem 18 wheeler.

Bowers thanked God for saving her life on August 17, when returning from Knoxville. On top of a mountain the treads on her blazer came off and she lost control of the SUV. The blazer went from the left to the right side of the interstate with no other cars in her path. She gradually came to a perfect stop in the emergency lane.

Maybe this incident solves a Westport, CT accident scene too?

It will be interesting to see if she can turn up tire replacement records to prove the first incident took place.

In Memphis it's always someone else's fault (if you are a democrat). Watch her blame it on her doctor, pharmacist or an "East Memphis white demon" who slipped her a mickey.

I know the answer also: Since she hasn't been convicted of anything yet, like 99.9% people arrested for a misdomeaner DUI, she was was probably given an appearance ticket.

Interesting.

Here in Washington State the democrats think that Mike McGavick is unqualified to run for elected office because he was arrested for a DUI almost 15 years ago. No speeding. No Accident. Just a DUI.

I suspect that the Democrats in Tennessee are much more tolerant of such misdemeanors than those in Washington.

I'm guessing that the word 'Dem' did NOT appear in the headline - but if it had been Republican, it would have been in BIG LETTERS.

How easy it is to see thru the left-leaning MSM garbage.

It is my understanding that a Drunk Driving accident is a FELONY if there is more than $500 damage or an injury, She should have been arrested and held for arraignment so bail could be set. Here in CA thats exactly what would happen.
