Peach:
You are right. We need to fight all across the board. One issue voters mean that they will vote against someone who would put the people they support in the majority.
This is extremely near-sighted on their part.

Hi Peach, You know we have three distinct forces here on FR lately.
The Donner Party republicans
The Unappeasable Republicans.
The POS republicans....they suffer from Perpetually Offended Syndrome.
Hard to take on some days.

You know there is a difference between a "conservative" and a "republican". Bush has failed miserably on more than just one issue. Appears to me that the real phonies here are the ones that will compromise their principle over party.
I'm one of those people that did not vote for Bush in 2004. Yes, immigration was one issue I have with Bush but others include the expansion of the Medicare program, the Kennedy Education program (aka NCLB) and massive pork spending.
Yes, I'm a conservative. I believe that if you forgo your principles and vote strictly for the party you have wasted your vote.

"It's obviously possible to be a conservative without supporting George W. Bush. Conservatives rightly hold Bush's profligate spending against him, for starters. But since Carlson has told us whom he didn't vote for in 2004, perhaps he'd be willing to reveal whom he did support."
Tucker is a big time McCain fan, he probably voted for him as a write-in candidate.

Sounds like you are describing all the litmus test pro-lifers here.

Do you ever get the feeling that if you stuck Tucker Carlson with a pin he'd pop?

I've never heard so many phony conservatives lately; ready to hand the election to the Democrats by deciding they just can't support a candidate because they're one issue voters.
They are not just one issue voters, they are blind to full results if the democraps get in power, the safety and well being of the country is in REAL DANGER -- no matter what the one issue is!
As I see it, their "one issue" is NOT the overall well being of their own county. Given our system of government (NOT a parliamentarian), if the democraps take control, there will be no lessons learned by the Republicans party that will help the nation.
They (the phony conservatives and the democraps they will help elect) will just make for a faster track to national suicide with FAR less opportunity to gain more ground on the Conservative side!
These "one issue-rs" will be as much the blame as the Howard Deans.

He is a Libertarian...Not A CONSERVATIVE.
But this does not matter to MSNBC's lovely small audience of libs.
To: Peach
Very well said, Peach. I couldn't agree more. Single issue voters may very well be the downfall of our GOP.

Oh my word!!!!
That kid isn't a conservative!
He may not even know what one is!

Did it ever occur to you that some of the spending that the President signed helped him get the tax cuts, the military budget and other absolutely necessary spending he wanted.
Sad to say, that's how it is in D.C. and I am proud of this President for being able to withstand the day in and day out assault on his honor and integrity by those who have never been elected to anything and know only how to tear down and never offer better solutions.

Tucker Carlson described himself as "a real conservative." Next he'll tell us he is a dancer. In fact, that's his next show on MSNBC. "Dancing with a real conservative who's a star for the 5 people who watch his show while drunk."
To: badpacifist
I did read Tucker was going to be on 'Dancing with the Stars'....so is Jerry Springer...
I think I'll watch...wonder how long before he is voted off?? Hope Springer is off first.

MSNBC won't tolerate a "real conservative." Michael Savage lasted there about 5 minutes. I have an acquaintance who thinks Don Imus is still a conservative Republican but that he is playing some clever schtict on his show. Imus is about money and he does what he is told to do by MSNBC producers. Same with Scarborough and Carlson--they are media whores.
