The country's first Muslim Miss England has slammed Prime Minister Tony Blair, accusing him of fuelling hysteria over terrorism and Islam.
Hammasa Kohistani, 19, said government statements since last year's 7 July attacks had created a 'negative image' of Muslims.
Ms Kohistani represented England at the Miss World finals in China in December.
'Tony Blair addressed Muslims in particular, telling them that they need to sort out the problem within,' she said. 'That was a huge stereotype of the Islamic community.'
She added: 'Even the more moderate Muslims have been stereotyped negatively and feel they have to take actions to prove themselves.'
The prime minister told MPs in July this year that moderate Muslims were not doing enough to tackle extremists in their own community.
Ms Kohistani, whose family fled the Taleban regime in Afghanistan, said the attacks had represented 'a reality slap' for those who thought Britain would never see such atrocities.

No, really? Considering the Amish haven't been implicated and the Muslims are, I wonder...

Does she even know what the definition of "stereotype" is?
And for me, its not so much what Blair has said about Muslims that has given me a negative image of them. It's more the beheadings and suicide bombings and oppression that's done it for me.

said the attacks had represented 'a reality slap' Delivered by...Muslims.
I love it when folks like this criticize, and then use terms like the above, which implies that England needed to grow up or face reality or something--that the bombings were in a way a GOOD thing in that by killing innocent people Brits were awakened to the reality...the reality that some Muslims bomb innocent people.
Pretty, sure, but what an ugly soul.

Blair should beat her for insolence.

Maybe she'd be happier someplace else where, you know, she'd have to cover that cute little belly with a burkha? Perhaps a forced clitorectomy would more closely align with her world view?
Dangerous moron.

Hammasa Kohistani, 19, said government statements since last year's 7 July attacks had created a 'negative image' of Muslims. Sorry, dear. Muslims had an image problem waaay before July 7 last year, and without any help at all from the government.

The country's first Muslim Miss England
Probably the first of many, at the rate things are going.
The "Islamic Kingdom of Great Britain" does not sound so improbable to me anymore.
