Thats another thing I cannot get used to is cream cheese with something sweet - seems wrong.
On the other hand we do have cheese cake which is just that but I cannot get used to a normal cake with cream cheese on it but I hear Americans talk about this quite a lot.
Frosting I assume is your word for icing. We have butter icing rather than your cream cheese frosting which is basically icing sugar (powdered sugar) and butter with a little vanilla essence if so desired.
someone send snugs a box mix of corn bread!
Wow! Thanks ilg! What fun it must have been.
I have been to D C a couple times.
But long to go while
Pres B & Laura are still there.
Look forward to seeing /reading more
re:your trip. Thanks for the pings!
They must be... I'll have to look for recipes. We buy them like we buy loaves of bread, all made and ready to eat!
I bought wood when the wood burner was brand new, but our neighborhood is about 45 years old now, and SO ARE THE TREES. LOL! Every time we have a storm, there are downed branches which my son chops up and lets stand for a year to dry out the sap inside. Last year he discovered that our parks dept. cuts up broken branches into a size that fits my car trunk, and leave it there. They gave him permission to take it. We use the wood burner in addition to the furnace which keeps the gas bill down. Not that the gas bill wasn't outrageous last winter anyway.
An whenever the neighbors have small branches down, they are delighted to have my son take them and use them for kindling. It works for everybody that way because the neighbors don't have to cut them up for collection.
Great pics of D.C.! Hubby and I are going to DC for the Sept 23 Rally for our Troops. Asked my Congressman for tickets to see White House...it may happen. I'm SOOO excited. I've not seen St. John's....since we'll be there on Sunday, we'll walk over......oooo, maybe a W sighting!
Jon will be on his way home tomorrow...I'm praying there are no weather delays in Philly and his connection at Atlanta...
Not too bad Mike tomorrow will be difficult for dad though because it would have been mum's birthday the first one since she died.
It is also my friend Phil's birthday so I have invited him round for a meal which in a way I think may help to take dad's mind off the fact it is mum's birthday.
Then
Now
Happy Anniversary and many more!
Glad you like it
Big Time!
Snugs, darlin, you have to slather it with butter and ooze honey all over it.
Aside from a big red blister on my right foot from walking around on Friday, yes. Usually I try to ignore them and just tough it out. It works pretty well. I was on foot all Friday and Saturday too, with the exception of the Saturday evening trolley tour. Only I traded my dress shoes in for sneakers (I walked holes into the soles, and they kept coming out everytime I took my shoes off; I'll have to superglue them back in).
"Wish that was me getting a big ole hug from the Prez..."
that was my thought, exactly!
Wonderful pics you took! I like the lighting and angles of the Washington monument. The one of the front of the White House could be a post card.
I love that photo of VP Cheney when he was very young in the white jacket... such a handsome young guy! Mrs. Cheney doesn't look too different, she's still such a beautiful lady.
Sounds a good way to help all round
snugs, thanks for today's dose of sanity.
We want pictures of Jon's return home :-)
