Wind farms face growing opposition in Eastern U.S. (Too Noisy)

LOWVILLE, New York (Reuters) - From the front of the Flat Rock Inn, a restaurant and campground on a gravel road, owner Gordon Yancey can see more than 100 windmills spinning, part of the electricity-generating wind farm that surrounds his property in upstate New York.

The sight and sound of them burns Yancey, 47, who grew up on a nearby farm and considers Lowville, 300 miles northwest of New York City with a population of 3,500, too crowded to live in.

"The noise, it's all a matter of opinion, who it is," Yancey said. "People who come from the city, who come from noisy areas, they don't think the noise is bad at all. Anybody that's from out in the country, that's used to it being quiet, thinks the noise that they give off is horrendous." ..................

It's a long article, and I don't know how much can be posted so, unfortunately, I've excerpted it.

One thing's for darn sure....no windfarm will ever be allowed in any area where rich "progressives" live or vacation.

Yancey needs to get some Bose sound-canceling headphones.

You'd think it wouldn't be a big deal as even the wind usually
makes noise all on it's own.

Noise? Most wind turbines are quieter than the "noise" of the blowing wind in your ears.

BooHoo you slimey scuzz butts. Your NEastern liberal crapitudes are draining America. The power is what you need and demand but you don't want to sacrifice a dang thing. What if East Texans didn't want those ugly oil derricks around.? You NEasterners would not have your stinking heating oil in the winter. Nothing is free freaks.

Ever been to Lowville? Let me tell you, there aren't any rich "progressives" up here. We are so far north of Albany (and DC) they only care about us at election time...any other time, we are ignored and ridiculed...

Interesting I never considered that they would be noisy inside. Just the smooth hum of a turbine spinning.

Maybe the wind turbines could generate cicada insect sounds. That noise is louder than anything in the city.

As they say in the audiophile world, "No highs, no lows, must be Bose"

I wasn't trying to imply that Lowville is rich.I was just trying to point out the breathtaking hypocrisy of rich democRATS by making reference to the current battle over the proposed Nantucket Sound windfarm,Nantucket Sound being a place where the likes of Clinton,Kerry,Kennedy and Cronkite own land and go yachting in the summer.

That was my belief until I took a tour of one in 1999. Probably not even possible today after 9/11. But it was deafening. My lungs shook.

It's all the steam running to the turbines and the other water circulating out to the cooling ponds.

It's not that loud outside, although you can hear some rumble. Inside, it's incredible.

I live less than 100 yards from the spillway of a dam and I wish it were producing electricity but the noise is kinda nice if you ask me.
