She made a REALLY STOOPID remark a few days ago. It smacked of religious bigotry. I don't remember the details.

Katherine is either lying or deluded. "Or"? They're not mutually exclusive.

I remember something about Christians being more ... something than others. I don't remember th ewhole thing. Can you fill us in? She really stepped in it.

"The Florida Republican candidate for U.S. Senate also said that if Christians are not elected, politicians will "legislate sin," including abortion and gay marriage."
She does it to herself.

I remember something about Christians being more ... something than others. I don't remember th ewhole thing. Can you fill us in? She really stepped in it. Sorry to say, she really did. Basically said that only Christians were fit for government positions because anyone else will "legislate sin"; and that non-Christian voters "didn't know better" and were being misled by non-Christians in public office.
That was bad, but what really sank the raft was the comment about, "God chooses our rulers". Wrong on two counts -- first, God may inspire, but citizens vote; and second, our leaders are supposed to "govern", not "rule". We left rulers at the doorstep of the Revolutionary War.

But one of her gems is:
"If you're not electing Christians, then in essence you are going to legislate sin," Harris added.
I was a big Harrs fan, but her statements mean that she is a) dumber than a bag of hammers and/or b) frightening.

What really disturbed me was the number of FReepers that supported her in her statements. I could have sworn I was on a thread in New England in the 17th Century.

Here are a couple threads that talk about her comments.

Katherine Harris says failure to elect Christians will `legislate sin'
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1690257/posts
Here is the link to the article where the comments were made.
"...thinking that they needed to avoid politics and that is so wrong because God is the one who chooses our rulers. And if we are the ones not actively involved in electing those godly men and women and if people arent involved in helping godly men in getting elected than were going to have a nation of secular laws. Thats not what our founding fathers intended and thats certainly isnt what God intended"
http://www.floridabaptistwitness.com/6298.article "If you are not electing Christians, tried and true, under public scrutiny and pressure, if youre not electing Christians then in essence you are going to legislate sin. They can legislate sin."

Per the rules.

She'll be the nominee, to your chagrin.

Thanks for the links.
I don't know much about Harris and have no dog in this fight, but her making those remarks are going to kill her election.
EEE, FYI

My sentiments exactly. I could not believe my eyes when I heard it. I'm surprised it's not played up all over the MSM.

I can see that whatever she said made a real lasting impression on you.

There's 2 reasons I'd vote for her.
To: toddlintown
It did but I don't like to mis-quote. Facts are more important. That is why I asked another FReeper for clarification. Is that okay with you?
