More4 risks US ire with Bush assassination film
Jason Deans, broadcast editor Thursday August 31, 2006 MediaGuardian.co.uk
Digital channel More4 will court controversy once again this autumn with a fictional piece, shot as a documentary, about the assassination of the US president, George Bush.
Death of a President seems certain to cause a furore on the other side of the Atlantic when it is premiered at the Toronto film festival next month.
In the UK the 90-minute film will be broadcast first on Channel 4's digital service in October.
The drama takes the form of a fictional documentary looking back at the assassination of Mr Bush in October 2007, after he has delivered a speech to business leaders in Chicago.
When Mr Bush arrives in the city he is confronted by a massive demonstration against the Iraq war and is gunned down by a sniper as he leaves the venue. The hunt for Mr Bush's killer focuses on a Syrian-born man, Jamal Abu Zikri.
Death of a President will use a combination of archive footage, CGI special effects and scripted scenes.
Actors play the fictional secret service agents and other aides who are with Mr Bush when he is shot and recall the incident in interviews recorded for the retrospective documentary.
Death of a President also looks at the differing viewpoints of the pro- and anti-Iraq war lobbies and the impact of Mr Bush's war on terror on the US.

Another dumbfounding example for your study: How liberals can simultaneously assert that they support women's rights, gay rights, freedom of expression, etc AND demand that we tolerate, accept, and apply no criticism to extreme Islam.
You are so right...today on John Gibson's "The Big Story" [David Asman guest hosting] David And Rudi Bakhtiar had a segment on this movie...Rudi had discussed this with a retired secret service agent from Reagan's term. He said that there was a huge spike in the 'crazies' they had to investigate everytime the attempted assassination of Reagan received a lot of press or attention.
Not sure what time, but, I'm pretty sure the program repeats again tonight if you want to catch it.
In many ways I regrettably share your struggles.
Lol...it would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad and scary, wouldn't it?
Very good example.
When we present that statement to the Code Pinkos all we get back are blann stares followed by their usual talking points: Bush bad, US troops bad.
Oh, I would imagine they would meet some nice young men with sunglasses and earpieces any time they might think about getting off a plane in the US, with or without their film. As a matter of fact, they can probably spend the rest of their lives not visiting the US.
That is exactly what my mother said this afternoon, when she caught herself laughing at the way libs lie to themselves, and then believe their own lies. She said it was the higher ups not just the uninformed, and I agreed with her. The uninformed are just that, but when leaders in Congress believe their delusions we are in trouble, and it is no laughing matter.
This is just disgusting. What if an American had made a film about the assassination of Blair? Worse, what if someone made a film depicting the assassination of Castro?
I'm in agreement with you all; this film is disgusting.
But on the bright side, its being shown here on More4-a digital channel that's stuck between an all-day quiz channel and the station that shows The Beverly Hillbillies all day.
More4 is so irrelevant; its figures double when its viewer's cat walks in the room.
(its viewer is probably George Galloway).
Watch out for sticky theatre seats! LOL
There is a certain satisfaction knowing that when they wake up the next day Bush will still be president and that truth will hit these loons right between the eyes.
One of the funniest things I have ever read on FR!!!
Oh, it's not a comedy. It's more of a thriller!! :-) Thanks for the kind words though.
I don't know maybe I am now punch drunk, but, do the drue's above post totally cracked me up and then these two sentences of yours has me going again...still ROTFLMAO!!! Funny, Funny!
These people are truly demented. It is absolutely amazing to watch!
Happy to oblige my friend!
On a serious note, as a Brit I'm disgusted a UK channel is showing this. However, when I watched the discussion about it on FNC tonight I thought to myself that probably more people are watching this debate now, than will watch More4 in the next 12 months!
Gave me some comfort.
I'm with you, and I would probably go farther. I am so enraged over this I think I would be completely out of control if I heard anybody praising this film. There is no limit to the depth of liberal leftist depravity!
Already did in this thread. It's public record, easy to confirm.
About a year or more ago here on FR you made claims that GHWB said something, and when I pressed you to show reliable sources you offered up garbage
I offered up the journalist he made the remark to, and President Bush 41's refusal to rescind the remark (why refuse to rescind that which has not been said?). You simply chose to cover your ears and go "NA NA NA NA."
Is Cindy Shiitehan's head mounted next to Hitlary's too? LOL
Yet I didn't support both thoughts as falsely stated.
I am certain he has no problem in me saying this, after all I am just exercising my 'freedom of speech.'
Luckily, I have a bit thicker skin than the likes of Jerry Falwell.
