Come on now, all we need to do is get the UN to pass another resolution!
So ... Iran makes a few nuclear weapons. They then use the porous border between the U.S. and Mexico to bring one of those bombs into the U.S. Perhaps in the well-shielded back of a minivan. They park the minivan in a garage of some ordinary house in an obscure neighborhood in some mid-sized American city. Then they conduct a nuclear test in Iran. Surprise! We have the bomb!
As the world is reacting to the Iranian nuclear test, some deranged Mullah steps up to the microphones to inform the world that there is a bomb just like the one they tested somewhere in the United States. There's another in some Western European country. The world is then informed that both of these bombs will be detonated unless certain Islamic demands are met.
Wow! How true, and how scary (because it is totally true) is this article? Perhaps compassionate conservatism will see us through. I will not be holding my breath. And no, this is not Bush's fault. He is but one in a long line of "leaders" who have presided while the country has gone to Hell, both domestically and in foreign affairs.
It has been quite a while since a surprise attack was used in a large scale war. I think Iran would be sufficiently surprised and the world would take notice if Tehran woke up to a thunderous storm of precision munitions from America and Israel.
There would sure be political hell to pay. But history would paint it as a brilliant move.
Let's Deliver A Nuke Tomorrow!
"This is why Conservatives are jumping up and down concerning our wide open borders. 5 years after 9/11 and we are still allowing our borders to be very porous."

That's not the main reason why conservatives want the borders closed. If it were a national security issue something meaningful might have been done.
The threat of bringing in a bomb is probably greater at our ports.
Make that an EMP, fry all the electronics. That should slow them down.
Fortunately for the world, we had leaders in WW2 that understood that Germany and Japan could not be allowed to get the bomb, they didn't wait to see if they would use it wisely, The same situation applies NOW........someone has to make the call...........and it sure as hell won't be (A)Europe (B)UN (C) any Arab nations..........that kind of leaves it up to the US. Now do we have the leadership?
If not civilization will suffer for it.
No, no and no. Again, if Iran were to lob a couple nuclear Shehabs at Israel, Israel would a) shoot them down with their Arrow anti-ballistic system, and b) fire 10 back and turn Iran into a steaming crater. Iran's goal is to become the dominant mideast power, not get turned into dust.

Yes. That is what they are plotting. Obscure neighborhood? I don't think so. I think we all know what city they are targeting in such a scenario. Police the border. Get listening agents into Venezeula. Penetrate the Tri-border region in Columbia. And get detectors up around the City. AQ operatives have declared in their interviews they have intended a 2nd attack around 2010 - something that would deal a severe economic blow. Iran will be all too willing to provide them with the means (van nuke) if we allow it.
With their status now assured in the Middle East, Iran now waits for the appeasers on the left to take over Congress and the Presidency to complete their humiliation of the US. The McGovernites will use an Iranian bomb to castigate Bush for not negotiating with the mullahs ....if we had only let Jimmy Carter give us peace in our time etc.
All the Iranians need to do is explode one crude bomb ...my bet is before the end of 2007.
The Muzzies, and interestingly, the NKs, like to tie their surprises to historical events. I look for something around election week in the US.
Kill 'em all. Let Allah sort 'em out!

Powerful argument.
I don't know about the rest of you but I fully intend to do everything I can to pressure my congress critter to support a formal Declaration of War against Iran and get this thing over with. Iran must never, never, never be permitted to get the bomb.
I'll probably be dead before this nightmare scenario plays out, but the rest of you will likely be living in caves after nuclear winter sets in. You have two options. Direct action now, or nuclear winter (if you survive.)
This won't be resolved until one of our cities is a smoking crater. Whereas on Sept. 12, 2001, I was certain we had the resolve to do whatever it takes, sacrifice whatever necessary to rid the world of this scourge, time has proven that, instead that the White House is simply going to hope it just goes away. It's not going away.
The mullahcracy's bomb program won't complete its work.
