Cutting to the chase, it's all about global, French-style socialism - - the kind of secular welfare state socialism that the Democrats want to bring to America. The linear "thinking" among the left goes like this:

1. Capitalism, self-reliance, individual liberty and personal responsibility are perceived as Republican values.

2. Republicans control all branches of government in America.

3. Therefore, whatever Republicans do must be belittled, mocked, smeared, and spun in the public mind as "bad". "Right" and "wrong" have nothing to do with it. The Republicans must be defeated in order to move the socialist agenda forward.

4. Bush and the Republican have undertaken a war against terror, so this effort must be belittled, mocked, smeared, and spun in the public mind as "bad". (Silently, the left wants Bush's America to lose the war on terror, but in lieu of that the left would be delighted if Bush was forced to retreat with his tail between his legs.)

5. Israel is now engaged in it's own high profile war against terror and is therefore seen by the left ("the left" includes the Democrats, the global socialists, and their shills in the liberal "mainstream" newsrooms of the NY Times, the networks, Reuters, AP, and most of the European press) as an ally of Bush and the Republicans. That is, Israel's aggressive military action adds credibility to Bush's aggressive military action and seriously damages the efforts of the left to paint Bush as a "go-it-alone" cowboy who is "out of touch", etc. The war on terror is for real and Israel has reminded the public of that reality.

6. Since Israel is perceived as an ally of Bush in the war on terror its effort must now, as with Bush's effort, be belittled, mocked, smeared, and spun in the public mind as "bad". (Again, the Republicans must be defeated in order to move the socialist agenda forward and Israel, perceived to be an ally of Bush, stands in the way.)

This completes the circle.

And that is why the liberal "mainstream" newsrooms of the NY Times, the networks, Reuters, AP, and most of the European press hate Israel.

To date, as far as I can determine, not one mainstream editor or proprietor has acknowledged this corruption of the western media. The scale of this corruption now threatens to have a lethal impact on the course of human history. Hatred now drives not just the jihadists but their western dupes, too. Truth and freedom are indivisible. The deconstruction of the former inevitably presages the destruction of the latter. This is the way a civilisation dies.
