Unfortunately, without public education, we would have even more unsupervised kids roaming the streets, and crime would rise. I don't know a way around that, especially without completely doing away with the welfare system, so that parents wouldn't have the luxury of having their kids fed and housed but required to do nothing. Excellent idea. Kills two birds with one stone. Gets rid of any need for illegal invaders to do the jobs Americans wont do and gets the welfare people off their tails and our backs.
There are some people who are determined to live on public assistance all their lives. I am more of the "If they don't work they shouldn't eat" mind myself. I have no pity for a starving person who won't go work.

I agree with you. We should have a very small need for public assistance, people who truely cannot fend for themselves. There is no excuse for the huge number of people who are living off the tax dollars of others.

The more the adults give, the harder the kids will push. Doesn't anyone understand that simple concept anymore?

The blackboard jungle has become quite overgrown, maybe Glenn Ford got out just in time.

"some teachers have unrealistic expectations of their students"
Talk about low expectations! Now the teachers are encouraged to develop low expectations for "students from difficult backgrounds". This is an insult to anyone who has overcome life's difficulties. Just tell those little ole kids that their lives are just too difficult and we don't expect them to amount to anything because they can't improve themselves. This is idiocy!
