I still don't understand how someone could think this is justifiable. You cannot take the law into your own hands like that. I haven't seen any proof yet that the neighbor did molest this man's daughter. I'd like to know what kind of evidence the father was working with as well. Still doesn't make it justifiable homicide though -- temporary insanity maybe -- justifiable? Not in my opinion.

You ain't on the jury. Why does the dad have to present YOU with evidence? You seem to be condemning him without all the facts.

OK, so I don't have them either, but if a reasonably intelligent man, cognizant of the law, feels he's justified, I'd tend to agree with him a lot more than you.

We'd have a lot less of these slime if people took care of it themselves.

Of course it is. And, of course you can.

But you should give the American justice system a chance to work successfully. If it fails....well then, "correcting the error" must be a requirement of society to prevent further molesting of the young by that perp....this is the real reason grand-fathers exist in God's great plan.

Looks like he did just that.

In fact, all professional law enforcement people, the police, judges, the lawyers, work for us and are our agents.

As agents, they have no power or authority that we do not originally have. They are our proxies. We still retain original authority.

Maybe justifiable isn't the correct word, but understandable at least. Not saying that he should walk away a free man, but assuming that there is no doubt the man molested his 2 yo girl, I don't see a long sentence in his future.

I gather you and I will get flamed on this thread. I tend to not believe lawyers and tend to believe the facts must come out in a case before you subject the accused to judgement.

Well, the accused can't defend himself and cannot be questioned by the authorities. Now the attorney has to prove his case. This should get interesting.

Agree, it's manslaughter at least. It would be justifiable if he caught the man in the act, but since there was no immediate threat and he went out in search of the other man, it's not legally justifiable homicide.

Temporary justifiablity. If he saw the deed that he was avenging, if he was the only witness- then he did the right thing. This is Massachussetts we are talking about. Chances are the molester would get sentenced to community service.

If a parent could be confident that the pedophile would be punished immediately and removed permanently from society these type things wouldn't happen.

That's correct. One should wait until conviction, and gun down the perp/pervert on his way out of the courtroom.
