One person has been killed and at least 14 injured in the San Francisco area on Tuesday after a driver targeted pedestrians on crosswalks and sidewalks, police allege.
Pedro Adluguv, 70, is carried to an ambulance after he was hit by a car while crossing a street in San Francisco, Tuesday. (Penni Gladstone/San Francisco Chronicle/Associated Press) Seven people were in critical condition in the series of hit-and-run incidents, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
The spree began around noon in the Fremont district, where a 55-year-old man walking on the side of the road was struck. He was thrown into a field and pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. Chris Mazzone of the Fremont police.
Witnesses said the driver did not slow down.
The driver then crossed the bay into San Francisco, where at least four separate incidents occurred.
"It was like Death Race 2000, "firefighter Danny Bright told the Chronicle. "Guys were walking down the sidewalk and the guy just came up and ran them over. The guy went crazy.''
Police were eventually able to box in a black Honda Pilot in the city's Richmond district.
The arrested man was identified as Omeed Aziz Popal.
Muslim terrorist.
Hate crime.

Fremont is not in a "Fremont district" of San Francisco, as this article implies. It's a city quite a bit to the south-southeast, much closer to San Jose.
(The "Richmond District"--not to be confused with the city of Richmond nearby!--is part of San Francisco.)

I did a Dogpile search of his name. Someone by that name was a defendent in a case in Stanislaus County, Ca. He was involved in some sort of traffic infraction. Couldn't find any other details.

Worthless is right. If anything is a "hate crime", this is it.
"Omeed" may be a rare variant of "Omid," a Persian name meaning "hope." "Aziz" means "powerful and beloved" in Arabic and matches the names of a tenth-century caliph. "Popal" may be some variant on "Pablo" or "Paul," a famous Christian Saint of the first century or perhaps some vague reference to the Pope of Rome. So I'm taking a three in four shot, possibly higher odds...this criminal is Muslim.
This taken with the perp's name would tend to make me believe that this will disappear form the MSM by tomorrow. Remember the Seattle shooting that baffled the news hawks who couldn't believe the perp's expressed declaration of hatred.
