James Polehinke, 44, of Margate, the copilot and sole survivor of Sunday's Comair Flight 5191 crash in Lexington, Ky., kept to himself, neighbors said.
[snip]
Ida Askew, 51, was arrested and charged with attempted murder in July 1999 after she shot Polehinke in the stomach with a handgun while the couple was arguing, police records show.

Apologies if this was posted before, but a search didn't reveal any prior article. Not much new info, except for the fact that this guy evidently has nine lives...

Yeah - talk about a bizarre coincidence. I guess depending upon how you look at things, this man is either real lucky...or horribly unfortunate.

Any info on the cop who pulled him from the wreckage? I heard on the telly that he was injured in his efforts but don't know how badly.

I heard on TV that the cop was "treated" while the copilot was in critical condition. I took that to mean that the cop was not actually admitted to the hospital, although that's supposition on my part.

Gosh, I sure hope this co-pilot isn't on the voice recorder having the following conversation:
Pilot: They said take the fork left for runway 22 right?
Co-pilot: No, no, they said go right.
Pilot: Are sure? I think they said...
Co-pilot: No, no, trust me. Go right.
That would suck huh?

The policeman had a bad burn on his elbow....was treated at the same hospital as the co-pilot, and released.

And I thought I had been in too many places at the wrong time and had really close calls. I don't come close to this fellow.

No one answered the door at his tan home Sunday afternoon. Uhhh... he is still in the Hospital.

I'd go golfing in a thunderstorm with that guy.

this guy was at the controls - and nothing makes sense as to why he went down a dirt road of a runway.
i wonder if he has some weird death wish

I did see on another thread that the crew actually got on the wrong jet upon arrival at the airport, and had to be directed to the correct one. I don't know if this was just "one of those days", or they were extremely fatigued, or what...
To: Semper911
Why?
Do you expect his "good luck" to extend to others in his vicinity?
It didn't do much for the pilot and passengers!
