America's Muslims Aren't as Assimilated as You Think

If only the Muslims in Europe -- with their hearts focused on the Islamic world and their carry-on liquids poised for destruction in the West -- could behave like the well-educated, secular and Americanizing Muslims in the United States, no one would have to worry.

So runs the comforting media narrative that has developed around the approximately 6 million Muslims in the United States, who are often portrayed as well-assimilated and willing to leave their religion and culture behind in pursuit of American values and lifestyle. But over the past two years, I have traveled the country, visiting mosques, interviewing Muslim leaders and speaking to Muslim youths in universities and Islamic centers from New York to Michigan to California -- and I have encountered a different truth. I found few signs of London-style radicalism among Muslims in the United States. At the same time, the real story of American Muslims is one of accelerating alienation from the mainstream of U.S. life, with Muslims in this country choosing their Islamic identity over their American one.

The fact is, THEY are the ones who are biased against American culture and social and political institutions.

The onus is on them to make accommodation with our way of life, by facing and ridding themselves of their own prejudices.

We are a tolerant people. That doesn't mean we have nothing we hold up as ideal. And we are not obligated to tolerate and bolster belief systems which promote activities that threaten the existence of our own higher values and ideals.

Islam is (and historically has been) in conflict with the West. The test of our time is whether we will defend our values without apology, and demand respect for those values from all who choose to live in and benefit from our society.

Being ambassadors of Islam is daring behavior when you consider that American Muslims live in a country where so many people are ignorant of -- if not hostile to -- their faith.

Not so sure I can agree with that assessment. They named their first Territorial Capitol Fillmore and the County Millard in honor of the first U.S. President they felt treated them fairly.

Applications for statehood were consistently rejected even as terrirtories which were settled much later (Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, the Dakotas) were welcomed as new states.

While Wyoming terrirory's extension of the voting franchise to women was accepted, the federal government blocked the Utah legislature's bill to follow suit as a plot to beef up the number of Mormon voters.

It was six long years after the polygamy thing went away that Utah's application for statehood was finally approved, roughly 50 years after the first settlers arrived.

You are presuming that non-Muslims would NEVER herd "suspected" Al-Qaeda into a ditch and shoot them out of hand, just on spec. The veneer of civilization is not so thick, and since Islam insists on screeching how it will kill the West, some day soon the West will take them at their word and the shooting will REALLY start. We can wipe out whole populations in days, and Islam is betting we won't. I think they are trying to draw to fill an inside straight.

As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness.

At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs [Europe, Australia, USA and Japan]. Six percent of US prison inmates are Muslim. Like any other minority, they won’t integrate, but work to build their own separate community.

From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. South Africa's Muslim population is 2%, but they control 35% of the businesses, a large percentage of the banks and have five Cabinet seats while Christians (77% of the population) have none.

They will push for the introduction of halaal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves (along with threats for failure to comply).

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia; Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world, but to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. (Ei: car-burnings in France last October.) Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats.

After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning (India, Mindanao, Philippines).

At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare [Indonesia].

From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya (infidel tax). (Sudan, Kosovo, Lebanon and Egypt).

After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide [Western Papua (New Guinea), Iran, Biafra, Turkey and North Nigeria].

100% will usher in the peace of "Dar-es-Salaam" - House of Peace - as in Saudi Arabia, Libya and Yemen.

The thing is that Islam is the fastest growing religion, for some reason it maintains a certain appeal to people. I think it has to do with the way it is catered and coddled. Islam continues to grow even though Muslims kill people nearly everyday in the name of their religion.

I'm not presuming that non-muslims (infidels like me) wouldn't do such a thing. I'm just wondering what it will take to get started. Lots of people will go along with almost anything so long as they are not directly affected. The problem is, they are already being directly affected whenever they get in line at the airport, pass through metal detectors, etc.
I hope you're correct in your assessment that they are trying to fill an inside straight.
I'm getting too old to do much more than sit on my porch and pop 'em when they pass by.

The reason a link is made to an earlier thread is so that the totality of comments on the story can be maintained. Duplicate threads fragment responses. Having said that, duplicate threads several days apart may allow a separate set of readers to view and comment on the story.

Muslims hate us and hate this country. I can not believe in the "assimilated" muslim except as a myth.

Trust a muslim? Nope. Never.

I might pretend I like them, I might be courteous to muslims during business transactions or on the street..but beneath my friendly smile is the same contempt for them and their kind that they have for me and mine.
