Posted so FReepers can see what Harper and his Conservatives are up against. REmember, the three opposition parties are the Crooks, the Commies, and the Traitors.
This is from the Commies.

I don't know if the NDP are actually commies, but I remember their mantra in the 1970s against 'corporate bums.' It's all you ever heard.
It was a shock to hear they had taken over the Ontario government back in the 90s. That would have been like socialists taking over California. As opposed to what California is today... never mind.

"Commies" is hyperbole.
"Crooks" and "Traitors" are as well, but not so much. ;^)
At Taylor's site, you can download the whole file - it's a doozy!

Wow, they sound just like the Howard Dean/Nancy Pelosi faction of the Democratic party.

the U.S. and its puppet regime in IraqHow is a freely and democratically elected government under a freely and democratically approved constitution a "puppet regime" of the US?

These are the same people who believe that Bush's victories in 2000 and 2004 were fixed.

Nanaimo, an NDP stronghold, has its own Red Square, a downtown development marked by funding scandals and owned by an NDP front.

I was living in Ontario then. It ws really a protest vote against both the Conservatives and the Liberals. Even the NDP were surprised they'd won! And boy did they make living in Ontario s*ck.

I remember their mantra in the 1970s against 'corporate bums.'NDP leader David Lewis coined the phrase "corporate welfare bum" during his fairly successful campaign in the 1972 election. It was a reference to the array of subsidies to corporations and it resonated with the voters.
Lewis stepped down as party leader after losing his seat in the 1984 election. He was defeated after it was revealed that his campaign was raising money by coercing donations from Elections Canada workers in a "cash for jobs" kickback scheme, a practice that the party continued until the mid-1980s.

With that attitude, the NDP will never head a government in Canada.

The NDP heads the provincial government in Saskatchewan. They led a government in Ontario. At the provincial level, if the party screws up, the country will survive. But not with the kind of federal cut and run policies they'd like to pursue.

They are well left of them. Those people would be in the Liberal Party if they were in Canada.

"It was a shock to hear they had taken over the Ontario government back in the 90s"The bum who ran that governement, Bob Rae, is now a contender for the federal lieberals. I hope he's the one they go with, as he can be ridiculed for what he did to bankrupt Ontario during his tenure.
