A letter to my 14 day old son, Jon-Luc.
To my loving son, Jon-Luc.
Once upon a time, there was a great country. A country where men and women of honor and courage stood tall and were willing to fight and perhaps die for what they believed. From the very start of this great country many evil people came and tried to take the Jewel of Freedom the brave ones held, but their attempts failed. The men and women of honor and courage fought and died by the thousands .. but do not fear my son, new brave ones took their place.. they stood where the other fallen died, picked up the Great Jewel and held it high. Those who tried to crush the Jewel were destroyed without mercy. The brave ones were sad that so many died, but they knew that the more important thing was that the Jewel was safe. The brave ones knew also that after a time other evil ones would come and again seek to destroy the Jewel and the country that protects it .. and time passed . And more time
My son, after a great time of prosperity most of those who I have known who had fought and protected the Jewel sadly died . Their time gone their rest had come... A new generation took their place. Many in this new generation were raised on easy living and sadly even easer truth. You see Jon-Luc, these people had been blinded by their need to be cared for. They no longer saw the great country as the protector of the great Jewel, but only a giver of shinny and worthless things. Over time the great Jewel was left un-worshiped and its glow faded and its luster stopped shining for the world to see. Soon a kind of darkness fell over the world. Into this darkness you have been born.
There is more to this story my son
..
Jon-Luc is going to love cheese...
Activism/Chapters not!
Lock and load.
Make it so.
A little gay,but still a captain.
Beat Me To It!!
Picard. Is that you?
Congratulations on the birth of your son! I certainly hope that he will live in freedom his whole life.
[taps foot impatiently]
Pictures! Must see pictures of cute new baby!!
Hey, how many parts to this dark crap are there?
Your time is better spent picking out a Wiffle Ball bat, I think....
Clean out your head-gear, dad. How fearful do you want your son to be?
I thought Capt. Picard's name was Jean-Luc.
But OK, have it your way...
Wow, I'll bet your baby sleeps well after hearing that warm, fuzzy story. Have you ever heard of "Winken, Blinken and Nod"?
This thread is also worthless without pictures. ;)
it's embarrassing but human.
As soon as he is able to understand, share with him the history of this great country. Our teen-aged son knows the history of the U.S. and, now that he is older, that it is under attack. WE DO NOT DWELL ON IT, but have given him the knowledge to understand what he will be defending when the time comes. Meanwhile, he looks forward to school, paintball, parties and college. Keep it balanced. :)
"WE DO NOT DWELL ON IT".... Lucky you. Their will come a day soon when you will. As far as the "when the time comes"... it's now.
