STATEMENT OF CLARIFICATION
TAMPA--In a recent article published in the Florida Baptist Witness, Congresswoman Katherine Harris was asked to comment on the interplay of faith and politics in the public square. In the interview, Harris was speaking to a Christian audience, addressing a common misperception that people of faith should not be actively involved in government. Addressing this Christian publication, Harris provided a statement that explains her deep grounding in Judeo-Christian values.
Bryan Rudnick, Harris for Senate Campaign Manager stated, "I joined this campaign because Congresswoman Harris is a passionate supporter of Israel, the Jewish people and always has the best interests of all Floridians at heart. As the grandson of Holocaust survivors, I know that she encourages people of all faiths to engage in government so that our country can continue to thrive on the principles set forth by our Founding Fathers, without malice towards anyone."
In Congress, Katherine Harris has consistently supported pro-Israel legislation. Representative Harris co-sponsored numerous resolutions including: H. Con. Res. 248, to honor the life and work of Simon Wiesenthal and to reaffirm Congress' commitment to the fight against anti-Semitism and all forms of intolerance; H.Con.Res. 392, to recognize the 58th anniversary of the independence of the State of Israel; H.Con.Res. 101, to push for the European Union to add Hezbollah to its list of terrorist organizations; and H.Res. 575, to stress that Hamas and other terrorist organizations should not take part in elections held by the Palestinian Authority.
As a Florida State Senator, Katherine Harris co-sponsored S. 3062, the Holocaust and Yom Hashoah Victims Resolution, encouraging observation of the day to remember the horrific tragedy of the Holocaust. While serving as Secretary of State, Congresswoman Harris advocated for funding for the Florida - Israel Linkage Institute to promote business/ cultural/educational/technological exchanges, and she traveled to Israel for personal and professional purposes. As Harris frequently reminds voters in her campaign speeches for the U.S. Senate, she is committed to standing by Israel.

NO !
Fans & Friends of Katherine Harris !
Then vote Democrat. By all means, do all you can to give them back the Senate.
Who cares what she thinks about which religions should hold office, if that's even what she meant. She can't control who people vote for, so it doesn't matter. It's just something for her opponents to carp about.
Lets us be clear what the 1st Amendment means and does not mean !
The 1 amendment does not say "separate church and state"
what it really says is that the State will not recognize the establishment of a religeon - - i.e. not state a supported religeon . .
The 1st Amendment protects the church from the state, not the other way around !
All other definitions are supplied by commies from Nuke York City !
(and Christopher Hitchens)
Maybe she will, but like I have said already, it's not over till it's over !
So many people, and polls in 1948, advanced the conclusion that Dewey would defeat Truman - - so sure they were !
Though, to be clear here, Truman was the incumbent !
As is Nelson in this race . . .
The Deists of the 18th centuary were not athiests, not like the Liberals of today !
And, todays Secularists are soft atheists . .
Todays Liberals are Soft Socialists . . .
- - - They have nothing in common with our founding fathers !
Today's Democrats are not the Party of Jefferson, the Libertarians are ! !
Todays Democrats are the party of Benedict Arnold ~ ~
>>Ultra-liberal Bill Nelson is supported by MoveOn.org. He represents the lunatic left, not Florida. Voting for Nelson is the same as voting for Chappaquiddick Kennedy and Hanoi Kerry, who are the "pride" of MassAssChusetts.
From the Washington Times, July 5, 2005:
"MoveOn.org, the leftist, anti-war Internet group that spent millions of dollars last year trying to elect liberals and posted a clip likening President Bush to a Nazi, is raising money for two Democratic Senate candidates who call themselves mainstream moderates.
The group, which has been running TV ads against the war in Iraq, is soliciting money on its political action committee's (PAC) Web site for the 2006 campaigns of Sen. Bill Nelson, Florida Democrat, and Robert Casey Jr., Pennsylvania's state treasurer." <<
Even as this is true, it maybe to little, too late to bring down Nelson !
At the risk of alienating the beginner of this thread-
I would like to state my observations thus:
Representative Katherine Harris's statements should not be taken too seriously - - her religeosity is not very deep .
President Bush's Christianity is not very deep either .
I have made comments to this effect at the Politcal Chat/Message Board on Compuserve's message board forum !
Look under sontarrin
Out of curiosity, can anyone think of a pro life Jewish member of Congress?
The reason why this statement needed to be released is surely on topic, no matter how much some might wish otherwise.
Our Founding Fathers insisted on no religious test. Imagine that.
I know what today's Dems are. All you have to do is not vote for anyone with socialist tendencies. You don't need people only from one certain religion.
I actually think she'd be very effective. Far more than the other candidates for her position. But that's jmo.
"Then vote Democrat. By all means, do all you can to give them back the Senate."
Right on target Jezebelle. It's really amazing the emptyheaded cant and jargon coming from these fair weather conservatives. These are the sunshine patriots that Paine warned us about. Is it any wonder that the Conservative hold on the House is in doubt? These clueless sunshine conservatives are bound and determined to deliver our beloved Republic to the leftist/liberal/socialist opposition.
Congressman Cantor a Conservative Republican from Virginia.
Yes, I know you were doing a post and I was agreeing with you. World Net Daily's Joe Farah urges Floridians to vote for Tom Gallagher. See my last post above.
World Net Daily's Editor urges Floridians to VOTE FOR TOM GALLAGHER. (sounds like an endorsement to me).

"If you can't agree on that, you deserve the DUngheap." Mr. Smorch
