Paraphrasing A.E.
The Palestinians: a people who have never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
That is so true.

The Palestinians should bow to their black rock and thank Allah that I am not in charge of Israeli policy.

Actually, I have a friend whose parents are Maltese. They all live here, but visit Malta every other summer. I've seen beautiful pictures - the city architecture is old and the streets are narrow, but everything looks clean and beautiful. The countryside reminds me of pictures of Sicily and some parts of Greece. It's one of the two places in Europe that I really long to visit (the other one is Poland).
And to add to all of this, all the Maltese families I've met that have immigrated to the US are very religious and active in the church (Roman Catholic) and in charity, love this country, and are pro-military.

How sad that such obvious truths seem out of step with conventional wisdom.

"Look at Dubai, an Arab country that has invested in tourism. Look how that country is flourishing. Cannot the Palestinians learn from them and simply do the same, instead of investing in terrorism, bringing more misery and poverty to their own people and all for nothing? "
This is s point worth making. If one simply looks at the Islamofascist's pursuance of his stated goals he is remarkably fixated, to the point where not even the lives of his loved (?) ones matter in achieving the deaths of all his perceived enemies. If that energy were channeled from birth into an entrepreneurial spirit these fellows would rule the world through their business accomplishments and Palestine would be the new Monte Carlo. Unfortunately, as with most totalitarian control freaks, the abject poverty and misery of the masses aid their game. Palestinians will rot in happy, blessed misery before they will lift a finger to improve themselves or their lives.

"Israel gave peace a chance by withdrawing from Gaza and part of the West Bank. That was a true gesture of extending one's hand in peace. In the eyes of the whole world.
The Palestinians interpreted this as a sign of weakness and instead of thinking how to build a future and a new infrustucture with all the money they are getting from various donors, including the EU, they began to fire Kassam rockets into Israel. There is your peace partner."
Who would have expected anything different? Though I'm sure Omert has more land for peace concessions in the works, ala the compassionate Ariel Sharon, Omert needs to be forcibly removed and stripped of any right to be a politician, becuase he is poison to Israel.
Has the US ever offered Mexico any land back or feared world opinion in this regard? NO! well, I take that back. We have been giving Mexico the land back as part of our failed immigration policy.
