Nagin: 'for whatever ever reason, there was a slow response' last year.
[Nagin tries to distance himself from the situation. Russert retorts about the Feds being slow to react.]
Russert points out the high crime rate in N.O. Nagin blames the lack of money. Nagin brags that the murder rate has declined from 23 one month down to 10.

Not too impressive, to be sure!!!! I guess the Move-on Millions does not stretch to a decent shirt and jacket to wear on TV.

The left is celebrating Katrina as the occassion to bash Bush. I can't wait for this new Hurricane that's developing and heading for the Gulf to become the story.

I'm not sure I can take Biden bad mouthing any success in Iraq. He flies in, spends a few hours there, and thinks he is an expert on the whole Iraqi war.

BlankO will be voted OUT of office.
We thought the same would happen to Nagin. It didn't. Sometimes the voters deserve what they voted for and what they get.

###### W in Kennebunkport - A funeral, a wedding, a baptism, a birth. -> ABC's Ann Compton blogs & commenters pile on.

For Ann Compton, a very nice story, and it is much easier to read her words than listen to her breathless reports.
The bloggers remarks are shocking. Such closed-mindedness. Thank goodness a few supporters of GWB also responded.

Your right. Biden is a joke. I wish he'd be the demo candidate for pres.
The Pres' head honcho on Katrina was a funny dude. He NEVER answered a question. Too funny. Stuck to talking points.
There is no way you can protect NOLA with dikes. You cannot protect NOLA with expanded "wet lands." At some point it floods again. People have got to be told that.
Also it takes a long long time to rebuild. We are one year behind NOLA in Punta Gorda which was also mostly destroyed but we know we cannot depend on the Feds for squat and it will take at least 5 years.
FNC also had one of the stupid stats that reflect virtually no one there has a clue when it comes to math, science or geography. There are 200,000 fewer residents but they seemed miffed that 1/3 of the schools not open and buses not running. Why would a city with 200K less residents require less schools and buses.

Sometimes the voters deserve what they voted for and what they get. It is hard to keep any compassion for the residents of New Orleans after that.

I make a point to say "September the 11th". It only takes a fraction of a second longer, and is my small mark of respect for those whose lives were taken that day.
