Per Fox News
Good to see you, short time! I am not condemning nor criticizing these men for what they did. I am pointing out that the media was compromised when they aired the tape with no disclaimer.
< I agree. I've had to think about what I'd do in such a situation. I decided that if I were ever kidnapped, I would say whatever stupid things they made me say in order to save my life, no matter how bad it might sound.
I'd retract it all once I was free and in safe territory. >
And you are probably the only one of us in a position to HAVE to think realistically.
As will I, thanks for that info. I still don't expect any public condemnation of the terrorists actions though.
Nothing like the sympathy and outrage Amnesty voices over the inmates at Gitmo.
I really was speaking from a Western viewpoint..The radical Islamic way of thinking is well known and I reject it.
Their religion looks very weak indeed in my eyes if "conversion by gunpoint" is a legitimate conversion to them..
What happened...forced conversion...is what awaits us if we don't stop Jihad now. A gun barrel to the head and repeat after me, "Allah...mumbo jumbo..." Or else. Spain, for instance, how long would they hold out. A day? Two? France? The UK? Meanwhile, Iran's fired off a sub to surface missile...part of military exercises. Somebody in the Pentagon had better be working on a plan to deal with Iran and soon. All Iran's bullying and blustering just gins up the Arab masses. They already think they've cleaned Israel's clock. The US is a whimpering coward. Hey, Jihad's a cakewalk. (That's what they think, and that's why they get out of bed in the morning.)
CNN and the rest of the MSM are already floating the notion that Iran merely wants its place as the big boy in the Middle East, and in this world of cozy PC moral relativism, what's wrong with that? Feed the tiger, then he won't eat you...yet. In a little while I'm off to the Abbey to say a few prayers for the Western World and for the conversion of Islamofascists and so called moderate Muslims. This is one of those things we can't do alone, so I'm asking for help.
Don't you suppose they'll ask to be reassigned to different areas? And wouldn't Fox be willing to do so under the circumstances?
I'd expect at least a couple months leave of absence to commence immediately for these guys.
Well, CNN and MSNBC went with the flow, so I take back my good thoughts about that.
Plenty of people are going to be impressed by how easy it is to make Westerners follow instructions, act in their little staged displays of solidarity with the Palestinians, convert to Islam, beg for their lives, squeal like pigs, etc. Get one or two alone and unarmed, and you too can humble the mighty! Anyone can play!
The kidnappers needed to save face and this is how they did so.
The conclusion that they did in fact save face by doing this is inescapable.
No one is going to believe their propaganda except those who sympathize with their murderous goals.
Those are the only people they cared about impressing anyway. They didn't do this to make believers out of *us*.
That's what's been going on for centuries and why Islam has spread to so many far corners of the planet.
I don't think the muslims either care of understand what the circumstances behind said "conversions" were. Perhaps at least in part, through the filtering of the media propaganda made available to them.
Someone posted earlier about the number of christians who have been killed because they wouldn't denounce their faith in Jesus Christ. That really contrasts what we saw today. I'm not judging anyone's choices. It is a matter of personal choice that God has given us.
We all need to keep our eye on the ball. Here is an excerpt of the demands. Will our esteemed media tell us which demands were actually met? Like that would be real news.
"Kidnappers' demands
Extracts from the statement from the group holding the journalists.
'You have angered us and we are not among those who wilt when angered, but the fountains of Islam erupt within us.'
'Here we are giving you another chance, and God knows how many times we have: We will exchange the male and female Muslim prisoners in America's prisons with the prisoners we have. The result will be according to the action.'
'Release our prisoners that you have and we release what we have. It goes for everybody. Although the soul of one Muslim is more precious and dignified than a thousand Bushes, the exchange is between peers.'
'We will grant you 72 hours starting midnight tonight, in which you come together and consult each other. If you carry out our condition, we carry out our promise. Or you wait and we will wait with you.'"

New Zealand has better press coverage than the US.
Yep. They have "chosen the path of peace" and "converted to Islam".
"I really hate to say this. I've been worried sick about Steve and Olaf, but they just sold their souls to the devil. I couldn't do it. Saw my head of with a butter knife but I'll never forsake my God. I'm glad they are safe though. I'm sure their families are relieved."
Do you really believe that their statement of conversion to Islam which was made with a gun to their heads means they have forsaken God? I know that my God would have wanted them to do whatever they needed to do to lead to their freedom. I also believe that if they had been killed regardless of what they were forced to do, that they would have immediately gone to heaven.
< God knows what is in a persons heart and what they really believe and in the end, that's all that matters.
I suspect they will need to disappear to survive a/la Rushdie.
We all need to keep our eye on the ball, is right.
Shush you. :-)
Prayers answered...
"Keep in mind these guys are simply reporters and are not trained to deal with torture and such. "
Everyone breaks, it's just a matter of time.
ROFL! Very good. I love that - Free Republic Fight Club.
BTW, it just occurred to me - although I don't regularly hear the media refer to Mohammed as the Prophet - it would make sense.
When discussing terrorism, if a reporter just says Mohammed we don't know if he's talking about Mohammed Atta or someone else so it makes sense to distinguish just WHICH Mohammed is being discussed.
