I share your take regarding Amy. Shep tried to sound hopeful.

Very sad, indeed. It appears either Amy had been holding back tears, or had already been crying. I don't know how she got through that segment.

Thanks for telling me that Shep was on, too. I went back in and turned the TV on after you mentioned that.

Yes, (smiling) IMO, far fetched.
Run where? He likely has no damn idea where he's being held.

FNC is back to replaying regular programming, but Shep is in the studio. I'll wait through one more news cycle.

You're welcome!

You're so right about no more journalists inside the territory, American or otherwise, if these two are harmed. A propoganda drought would be the death of Hamas.

She says that Centanni and Wiig were kidnapped by PA security forces associated with Fatah.

Did she have the first report, or did the Jerusalem Post?

They need Western voices to present their pitiful side, not to mention the foreign aid.

Yep. They have "chosen the path of peace" and "converted to Islam".

Oh dear Lord.  Please don't let this be true!!!

Yep. Self-reliance isn't one of their attributes.

I don't think the muzzies will kill two AMERICAN hostages. When these two get home they will be stifled from saying anything by FOX.

I agree. Some time will have to pass first.

A "confession" under duress -- even one that insists that it's "given freely" -- is null. To my knowlege no military POW will be condemned, let alone prosecuted, for "denouncing" the USA under duress.

That said, I do not see this as a good sign. I see it as a very ominous indicator.

I fear that what comes next -- or, if not next, "soon", is an announcement that as freely chosen "slaves of allah", they have "chosen" the "martyrdom path." The conclusion of the nightmare would be their deaths, either as "suicide" variety "martyrs" (i.e., loaded with explosives, parked somewhere, and then detonated), or, a "sacrificial offering" of some sort, i.e., their cold-blooded murder, with the cameras running (with previously recorded "oaths to allah", in their own voices, playing over the sound track, with some cock and bull narration explaining how they chose this method to atone for the sins of The Great Satan, and receive their reward in "Motel 72.")

The moment the kidnappers issued a demand that would obvously NOT be met (i.e., the release of "every muslim prisoner in America"), it seemed pretty clear to me that the outcome was the game, and the "demands" a mere pretext to "justify" it. A classic kangaroo court scenario. Issue a demand that you KNOW will NOT be met, so that you can claim "fairness" and "opportunity" for "the infidels", and then, assert that your hands are tied, justice demands no less than the death of the captives, since the "reasonable demands" were rebuffed with the insulting refusal to even consider meeting them.

Hell is not nearly hot enough for the brutal animals committing this atrocity.

Meanwhile, were the hell is the USA of the past? The one that in addition to "not negotiating with terrorists", made damn sure that there was an immediate and COSTLY penalty for kidnapping Americans?

Where are the leaders capable of saying, "Perdicaris alive or Raisuli dead!" -- and MEANING it?

Our countrymen are kidnapped and abused, and our response is a spineless, clinical statement that, well, we don't negotiate, sorry 'bout that.

This, against a foe that respects only ONE thing -- force. Overwhelmeing force. It respects only what it fears.

This mentality is alien to our "hothouse civilization", which, via projection, insists on the mistaken belief that "we're all the same inside."

We're not.

SOME people operate under an entirely different set of rules. They, in their own words, "love death."

You do NOT persuade people of that mentality by appearing "reasonable"; in fact, the only thing you WILL accomplish via that tactic is to confirm to them that you are WEAK. It is only STRENGTH that can win this conflict, and so long as we are congenitally incapable of DEMONSTRATING the kind of cold, brutal STRENGH that they will respect, we will instead receive their contempt.

The more we try to convince them that we are "reasonable", the more emboldened, confident, and dedicated they become.

We are throwing gasoline on the fire every time we deliver mealy-mouthed platitudes about our enemies.

The enemy knows that we are a paper tiger.

God have mercy on us...

Does it matter?

Yes, it's useful to know the origin of information.

Don't be silly. In this situation your God knows what you really believe, right? Not to open a can of worms or anything, but this reminds me of Columbine. Remember the female student... approached by gunman and asked her about being a Christian?

She was unwavering in her response and was killed instantly. Was she brave? Absolutely. If she said otherwise, would she have still been killed? Maybe, probably. We just never know.

I know they are in a tough spot, but I could NEVER denounce my God!  NEVER!  I am praying for the souls of Steve and Olef!  How sad.

More on the Kidnapped FOX Journalists and ones Conversion to Islam....

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Two Fox News journalists kidnapped in Gaza two weeks ago are expected to be freed later Sunday, a senior Palestinian official said, as the kidnappers released new footage of the hostages.
The government has received assurances that the hostages, cameraman Olaf Wiig, 36, of New Zealand, and correspondent Steve Centanni, 60, of the U.S., are unharmed, said Interior Ministry spokesman Khaled Abu Hilal. "We hope their release will be within hours," Abu Hilal told The Associated Press. The kidnappers, meanwhile, released new video of Wiig and Centanni.

In a written statement attached to the video, the kidnappers claimed the two men had converted to Islam. In one segment of the footage, Wiig is seen sitting cross-legged on the floor, dressed in a beige robe and reading from crumpled notes. "It is Apache helicopters firing hellfire missiles made in America that kill the residents in Gaza," he said in a halting voice, his face expressionless. In another segment, Centanni said he has converted to Islam and raised his index finger in an oath of allegiance to the religion.
The journalists were seized in Gaza City on Aug. 14. Their captors, a previously unknown group calling itself the Holy Jihad Brigades, demanded the release of all Muslims imprisoned by the U.S. by midnight Saturday in exchange for freeing the journalists. The kidnappers did not say what it would do to the men if the deadline passed with their demands unanswered.
It was not clear whether the kidnappers were local militants, either with ties to the ruling Hamas group or the rival Fatah movement, or sneaked into Gaza from outside. However, some Palestinian security officials said Sunday there were growing suspicions that the kidnappers were locals.
In the past two years, Palestinian militants have seized more than two dozen foreigners, usually to settle personal scores, but released them unharmed within hours. The holding of the Fox journalists was the longest so far. Wiig's wife, Anita McNaught, traveled to Gaza soon after the kidnapping to appeal for the men's safe release.
Centanni's brother, Ken, has made a similar plea. On Friday, civil rights leader the Rev. Jesse Jackson also called for the two men to be freed. "They are in a crisis they did not create.
They should not be kept as trophies and we appeal for their release," Jackson told New Zealand television network TV3. Jackson was to lead an ecumenical delegation to the Middle East this weekend to meet with political and religious leaders about the kidnapping and other developments in the region, including the capture of three Israeli soldiers by Islamic militants. As per FNC: they do not have the tape -- it is on a satellite feed.

They have it, but they are refusing to play it. At least that's what they said maybe 15 min. ago.

It's a different situation now. They believe Hammas has defeated Israel, therefore giving them much more power and influence.

I think you meant to say that they believe Hezzbollah defeated Israel, and they're not alone in that thinking.
