Nonsense. God knows what these men were going through and, assuming they are Christian, he knows they didn't deny Christ.
Through their actions, they showed the cheap unworthyness of radical Islam. Under these circumstances, for them to martyr themselves would have been even more unworthy.
It seems pretty obvious that Jesus wasn't talking about a one time only knife-to-the-neck sort of thing here.
It's not nonsense - the penalty for apostasy from islam is death. If they renounce these conversions, they'll have to spend the rest of their lives looking over their shoulders for a fanatic muslim who's carrying that sentence out. And he may not be real careful to avoid killing their families along with them. Or, they can live out their lives as faithful muslims, which certainly IS denying Christ. Pretty crappy choice either way. I hope other newsies will take a lesson from this.

You could do everything the barbarians wanted, as Nick Berg and Daniel Pearl and others presumably did, and still be killed in the same horrible ways. What has acquiescence earned you then?
Christians are being persecuted and murdered right now in the other hemisphere. I suppose you think they're foolish not to say words they don't mean and kiss the boot of Islam, just to go on living.
First of all, in the US, and in many areas of the western world, Muslims do convert to Christianity and do not get murdered. Second, it is highly doubtful that anyone other than a handful of kooks--even in the Muslim world--actually take these reporters' "conversions" seriously. The likelihood of them or their families ever facing any real threat is virtually zero.
Just to follow up with an example. Many people, including myself, have posted the Muhammaed cartoons on their web sites. Technically speaking, we are under threat of death. Do I lose sleep? Not a wink. These reporters, faced with a 100% chance of having their heads cut off vs. perhaps a one-billionth of a chance of being killed later on, did the math and made the obviously correct decision.

Apparently a huge percentage of people who think it's noble to die for their country think it's stupid to die for God and arrogant to want to do more than grovel and beg and submit.
The implications are fairly huge, and I'm having a hard time accepting them.
Paul was one of the greatest leaders of the early Christian church. If he was important enough for Jesus to appear to him in person, then he's okay by me! :-)
These Muslim Islamofacists want to conquor and control the WHOLE world and everyone along with everything in it. Step out of line, don't convert, don't wear a veil, don't participate in "honor killing" your children, don't castrate your women, show a supposed picture of Mohammed the pervert terrorist killing founder of this death cult, listen to music, watch TV, don't do or do do something required or forbidden within the doctrine of Islam the religion of death and destruction and you are DEAD.

Not my interoretation... it is what God's Word says. All one has to do is read the verses I posted and take them at face value and that is the only logical interpretation you can come up with, that is unless words don't mean anything. Then I guess you can "interpret it any way you want which is exactly what is happening.
