They don't care that the conversion wasn't real. The only important thing to them is that they could force adult Western men to SUBMIT and declare something they didn't believe, and that's definitely what they have in mind for the rest of us. Islam does mean submission

I have been trying to figure out 'why'. I thought it was a way to 'save face'. Your explanation is another possibility, and just might be the correct one. They made them submit and showed the tape to the world.

So, you think it will be ok to take the mark of the beast, because you won't really 'mean' it?

What we have here is a failuh to communicate..
What I'm saying is that just saying something you don't believe to save your or someone elses life does not means that you taken on "the mark of the beast" (WTFTM) and consequently means nothing.

Saul's other name is Paul.

Best as I recall, Jesus left Peter in charge, not Paul. Paul was nothing but a party-crashing, double-dealing, correspondent.

Where is the line drawn for taking the mark of the beast? If you are not familiar with the mark of the beast read Revelation. Revelation didn't list all the times that it would be ok to take the mark. Surely if there were times that it was ok, we would have been told. Why didn't they write that it was ok to take the mark since God would know that we didn't mean it?

Lord, if I am ever faced with this, please ensure that my captors are so lame as to give me such a simple path back to my family.

I personally believe that Blashphemy agains the Holy Spirit means not accepting Christ

I'm sorry, but that is incorrect.

Peter denied Christ three times and came out of it okay.

However Peter repented, and Christ forgave him. He came out of it "okay" in the end, but he paid with his life. Peter was crucified. Upside down. Because he didn't believe himself to be worthy of dying in the same manner as his Lord.

Yow!

I didn't much care for his letters to Timothy either.

They basically raised the Islamic finger, professed their faith in Allah and took Muslim names. Isn't that an official conversion? If so, they are between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand, how do we know where their loyalties lie and how can we assume that their future reporting in unbiased? On the other hand, if they renounce their 'conversion' they will face assassination or execution. Once a Muslim, you don't leave the Islamic fold, or so I hear.

Where is the line drawn for taking the mark of the beast?

Taking on the mark of any beast (Nazism, Communism, Radical Islamism, Gangsta Rapism, etc) means truly believing and living it, but not when you only say you believe in it cause someone has a gun to your head.
So that's my line. If you say it, believe it, live it, then you have crossed the line.

Keep in mind these guys are simply reporters and are not trained to deal with torture and such. They are in a tough situation and might say some stupid things. Don't hold it against them

Ditto...

I agree with you're post. But given the choice of mouthing the words that you accept Allah or leaving you're head behind, what would you do? I would tell these barbarians whatever they wanted to hear knowing that Christ is my only Saviour. As for their future reporting, they should just move away in secrecy since their very lives are in danger now. According to that sickening Muslim religion of theirs, these two guy's are to be made an example now. Unfortunatley, we live in the real world something demoncrats are not cognizant of and my advice to these reporters would be to just vanish.

Thank you. And I agree, most will submit. This happened in Spain, in Turkey, and anyplace Islam has gone; people submit because they feel it really doesn't make a big difference and they'll stay alive. And then they find out that it actually makes an enormous difference - but it's too late to take back that submission.

Peter denied Christ three times and came out of it okay.

Peter denied Christ three times, but later Christ asked Peter three times if he loved Him and Peter said "You know I love you" three times. By the third time Christ asked Peter, Peter was starting to get, in a sense, frustrated.

Peter was not only honest, but he was trustworthy enough to feed Jesus' flock. Jesus had doubters in His midst, but they became true believers after the Resurrection and Transfiguration before the Ascension.

Sorry about the inadvertant use of capitalization. No insult intended.

And from a purely practical amd non-religious POV--

This crap is escalating. At some point, people are going to have to start saying NO when these animals try to force us to do ANYTHING on pain of death, even if they're only asking us to declare that the Statue of Liberty is green.

Or they will "ask" for more and more and more, until we have finally acquieced so many times that we'll all be hopelesssly enslaved.

I dislike it whenever somebody can't carry on a one minute conversation about anything without continuously invoking the Lord's Name or His Grace.

Use the bible like a fine wine. Sip from it and savor the fruits.

Sorry, after sipping that fine wine, I am now a BibleOholic. As you know, Jesus made the best wine. There is no comparison to the cheap swill that comes the Koran. Anyone that know anything realizes that if you fill your head with garbage, that is what comes out. The Bible has no garbage, drink up and give thanks.

Christians who take the bible so literally are no different than Islamic jihadists who follow the Koran.

Twice you have not capped Bible? But capped other things. Weird IMHO.

Paul told us to be zealots for the word.. Paul died a horrible death but it was not in vain. Odd Paul was not lopping head off as a converted Christian, but he was teaching love, compassion, and he (Paul was formally known as Saul, basically a jihadist that followed hated of all Christians and he killed them when he could find them as often as he could).

Perhaps you would like to show us where exactly you got your Christian = Islamic Jihadist conclusions? I would be interested personally how you could make this false comparison... It is unfathomable to me... and probable to most rational people as well.

You think that's a simple path? For the rest of their lives, they'll be living under a death sentence for apostasy.

Everybody dies - better to die IN Christ, than DENYING Christ.
