Joe Biden is on sucking up to Islamic radicals.

No biggie. My reputation precedes me. Your posts have been excellent, and I have no issue with you personally. I would hope that I have not offended you.

"Let's put it the other way round. Say Hitler accepted Christ in his youth, before becoming the monster that he was. Through all the murder, mayhem and commandments that he broke later in his life, would he still be welcomed at the Gates?"
Paul taught that a true conversion experience would result in fruits of the Holy Spirit, enabling the converted person to give up a life of sin. Sure, true Christians still sin. But they are able to become more Christ-like as the Holy Spirit enables them to become free of one sin at a time throughout their lifespans.
So, a truly converted Hitler would find his sins so repugnant that the Holy Spirit would compel him to change his ways. The fact that Hitler committed such atrocities is evidence that he never gave his life to Christ.

I really hate to say this. I've been worried sick about Steve and Olaf, but they just sold their souls to the devil. I was thinking the same thing. The Bible warns us we will be faced with this delimma in the end times and we are to accept death. There is no going back.
Get a freaking grip, will you??

Bygones! :-)
I'm just proud to live in a country where we can disagree like this and not worry about being dragged out of our beds at night at gunpoint! Freedom rocks!
And I'm just really glad the journalists are free, and we aren't grieving over their untimely murders by terrorists!

But if he *had*, yes, he would have been forgiven. Christ died for *all*, even the seemingly unredeemable ones like Hitler and Osama Bin Laden, etc.

Now that was a really, really intriguing, well-written and thoughtful response -- thank you.

I agree, but after turning our back on someone, it's hard to face them again. A hardening, a guilt probably occurs out of embarrassment and insecurity. How would we feel if we betrayed our best friend, our president. We would have our tails between our legs. And our own human feelings alone could alienate us from God. We can cause alot of damage ourselves. We can cause a separation alone that may seem unforgivable. There will come a time when it will be unforgivable. I don't care to challenge when that time is.

Indeed. That is human nature, and our curse. Thank God we as Christians have Jesus to overcome it! :*)

Get a freaking grip, will you?? DCP, that is what it says.

Was up half the night following this and praying for the two of them.
Just had a thought (as irrelevant as it may be). Steve and Olaf pulled the ultimate slap in the face to their captors....(now follow me on this.) The Islamofast believe it is OK if not honorable to lie to the infidels to get their desired results. We'll guess what, the infidels turned it around: lied to them about their conversion and got their freedom. Rather ironic.

It is a bit nauseating to have to wade through tons of replies dealing with one's religious proclamations....
"WHAAA...I am a better christian than you"...
..."OMG, they denied Christ"....
..."I am so angry at them for being weak christians.....blah, blah, blah"!
That said, have at it....I'll find another thread. ;^)

Then why are we discussing this? Go ahead and convert to Islam. It's not what you say under extreme duress that matters, it's what's in your heart.
Suppose they had knives to your childrens throats, you'd proclaim whatever they wanted, even if in your heart you didn't believe it.
OTOH, proclaiming one is a devout Christian doesn't make him/her one if he/she doesn't really believe.

my God will give forgiveness for lying to murderous zealots.Only if you ask him for it.
And that would entail admitting it was WRONG, which is something I'm not seeing on this thread.
Most of us would take the cowardly way out to save our own lives. That isn't the point. Even if it's the only way out, it's still the cowardly way out, and a majority vote will never turn it into bravery.
What sickens me are the people who post that NONE would do differently in their place, as if there had never been Christian martyrs, as if our American ancestors hadn't been willing to die over matters less important than denying Christ, and as if no one is capable of the same now. Better to mock the ones who pray for courage, rather than look at their own lack of conviction.

The Southern Baptists (speaking as a former SBC Sunday School Teacher) have an axiom, "Once saved, always saved."Except for that little issue about blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. Definitely not a good idea.

This is one of the best posts on this thread. Thank you for writing it.

It is a bit nauseating to have to wade through tons of replies dealing with one's religious proclamations.... People are discussing what they think and feel regarding events that resemble Revelation. Scroll on past them if they don't apply to you. I ignore lots of posts all the time.
"WHAAA...I am a better christian than you"......"OMG, they denied Christ".... ..."I am so angry at them for being weak christians.....blah, blah, blah"!
I must have skipped past those, I don't recall anyone saying they were angry. Some have expressed concern, others have said they would probably do the same and lots have said they didn't know how they would behave.
That said, have at it....I'll find another thread. ;^)
Isn't free will great! :)

Use the bible like a fine wine.
Sip from it and savor the fruits.
The bible was written so that you wouldn't eat your neighbor without fearing eternal damnation.
Christians who take the bible so literally are no different than Islamic jihadists who follow the Koran.
