I bet Hamas was really ticked off at these kids for doing this, and this was the best face-saving way to bring this whole ordeal to an end.

This line of thinking will lead to more violence, IMHO. Hamas should be b*tchslapped hard. Alas, the moral relativists will continue to prevail. There will be absolutely no repercussion for Hamas. This will be rightfully considered a win for radical Islam. So long as we westerners do not offend the sensibilities of Islamics, or heaven forbid humiliate them; we will be assured of peace in our time.

Allow me to posit this query: When an Islamic nation has the ability to deliver multiple nuclear weapons to the USA, is it morally correct for every Senator, Congressman, and member of the Judiciary and Executive to speak the words of adherence to Islam? For should they refuse, millions might die. The western media just got out in front of the government by acquiescing first.

I think they knew they had no chance with that one. It was just for show.

However, don't underestimate the propaganda value of these guys' "conversion," retracted or not. A lot of Islamic warfare seems to be conducted by bragging, boasting and taunting, or at any rate doing so to encourage the faithful to then go on to the hard stuff, like blowing themselves up.

My forecast - and I hope I'm wrong - is that kidnappings will go up, and a demand for "conversion" will become a standard part of them. But really, there's no downside for the Muslims. The kidnappers never get punished in any way, they usually get a bit of money out of the deal, and Al Jazeera get all sorts of juicy propaganda videos.

Oh HAPPY DAY!!

I have been swearing at my computer for 2 days now because of laptop terrorists, LOL!

Small potatoes in the scheme of things.

Wow, it was good news to wake up to this morning.

There is a God and he answers prayers.

I really hate to say this. I've been worried sick about Steve and Olaf, but they just sold their souls to the devil.

I was thinking the same thing. The Bible warns us we will be faced with this delimma in the end times and we are to accept death. There is no going back.

All I have to say is remeber Jill Carroll. This is a bunch of BS. They're saying what they need to say...probably at gunpoint...to win their release. They're probably also mindful of how many other FOX journalists are in the general vicinity as well.

I see a few have already addressed your post. I will only add that salvation seems to be 'conditional' and give a couple of examples.

"And do not grumble, as some of them did--and were killed by the destroying angel. These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!" (1 Corinthians 10:10-12)

"Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain." (1 Corinthians 15:1-2)

"if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us" (2 Timothy 2:12)

"It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace." (Hebrews 6:4-6)

"If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?" (Hebrews 10:26-29)

"Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position." (2 Peter 3:17)

"These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm--shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted-- twice dead." (Jude 1:12)

"But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast." (Hebrews 3:6)

I ask you this in all sincerity, for clarification:

What would it take for a person to be twice dead while he is still physically alive?

"I have the highest respect for Islam and learned a lot of good things about it."

- one of the reporters, seconds ago, on Fox News. Either these conversions weren't entirely involuntary, or they learned nothing from their experience and continue to be dumb liberals.

The silence is deafening. I do not, and have not advocated any specific faith. Yet it is very telling that few will openly condemn radical Islam. I am compelled to ask the question again.

Would it be morally correct for every member of our elected government to convert to Islam, in order to preserve the mortal being of at least one person?

"I have the highest respect for Islam and learned a lot of good things about it."

I think, like their 'conversions' (which I hope they have repented of), that statements like that, might be to appease the muslims. The problem though is that by making statements like that, they could inadvertantly be encouraging people to convert.

"Looked to me like somone grabed his right arm above the elbow and he was saying something to the effect of don't grab me."

His elbow probably really hurt after being restrained for days.

If the information is correct regarding the identification of the kidnapper; this is a very good deal.

THANKS RDTF.

Hey, I have a great idea. Maybe we could give Hamas $230 to $460 million. Then the muzzies will love us.

Let's put it the other way round. Say Hitler accepted Christ in his youth, before becoming the monster that he was. Through all the murder, mayhem and commandments that he broke later in his life, would he still be welcomed at the Gates?

You may be right... But that could be offset by someone who is a committed and brave true believer making a public statement that the he/she would never make such a statement and then were to go the mid-east to prove it..
If only there were someone that brave................

I never said that I wouldn't have caved, were I in their place and as I said, I think if they have repented then they have been forgiven by the One that counts.

would not a reconversion afterwards suffice to the true God... even peter refused him three times and was forgiven...

i say give the islamofascists what they want and then convert back with a vengence...

teeman

but of course i would probably argue conversion with them to the detriment of being able to turn the other cheek, if you get my drift.....having made peace with God and looking forward to life with him and battling satan... and his converts...

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

In part, you can thank the Megachurch movement for that.
