The University of Colorado student union voted Thursday in support of firing tenured ethnic studies professor Ward Churchill.
The union's legislative council voted 9-6 in favor of a resolution supporting former Interim Chancellor Phil DiStefano's recommendation to fire Churchill for plagiarism and research misconduct.
The resolution will be sent to the student government's tri-executives and will go into effect if two of the three student leaders sign it.
"This is not a problem that is attached to the entire ethnic studies department just a not-so-good professor and he doesn't deserve to be employed here," ...
"He takes away from the value of our degree."
Churchill drew national attention over an essay that compared some Sept. 11 victims to a notorious Nazi.
A subsequent investigation into Churchill's work found that he committed serious, repeated and deliberate research misconduct, prompting the chancellor's recommendation that he be fired.
Churchill, who denies any wrongdoing, is expected to have a hearing this fall before the school's Privilege and Tenure Committee, which will re-evaluate DiStefano's recommendation.

The Boulder police and DA are also terrible.
I'm sure Yale, Harvard, and NYU will have a bidding war over who will hire him.
This loser needs to get his two faces to a barber badly!
That's not surprising.
UC @ Berkley will make a job offer within 48 hours.
But then, I saw Churchills scummy lawyer (he sounded, looked and talked like a sterotypical used car salesman) say on O'Reilly their next step is to sue the state and UC until both pay his off to stop.
He admitted it's all about money.
Because calling it "Anti-Caucasian Studies and Activism" would have been too obvious.
Anthropologists don't pander to their students enough, nor do they stroke minority activists and their guilt-feeling white patrons.
"The university has made many of their alumni very unhappy.
They are also keeping their wallets and check books closed."
I'm not sure exactly how much of a hit they've taken in terms of alumni contributions; I'm not even getting the monthly/biweekly mass mailed requests anymore.
Saves me no end of wastebasket space.
Still retain some contact with the Engineering School there, however. They've begun to sound like they're ready to seceed, put the East end of the campus on wheels and move out of the county.
It is all about the money.
That lawyer wants the taxpayers to cover his fees and expenses, too.
.
The longer Ward hangs around, the more he makes himself an easier target.
Even the students now laugh at him and his stupid sunglasses.
There's no sense in pandering to, or stroking, the study objects.
"Even the students now laugh at him and his stupid sunglasses."
IMHO, the students were the FIRST ones to catch on to him: Anybody ever do a serious check on the class headcount in that department?
" When one of his students, a Mandan-Hidatsa Indian, wrote a piece raising doubts about his claimed biography, he dropped her grade from an A to a C-minus."
There was a survey done recently of his students to grade Ward that flunked Ward.
If I can find it again , I will post it here.
"The saddest aspect of Churchill's case is that, in regard to his identity, he might not be guilty of fraud in the narrowest legal sense.
According to the News, Churchill has been claiming to be a Native American since his high school days in Illinois. It may well be that by this point he has genuinely convinced himself that he actually is an Indian.
Of course some people believe they're Napoleon.
But that's not a good reason for giving them professorships in French history. "

"...Ward Churchill would do himself some good to express a profound apology to people he has offended and misled.
He should also come clean about his appropriated American Indian identity. "

Judging by the reaction I get from my friends from those areas he'd have a VERY interesting time conducting a lecture tour of the reservations here in Montana.
The real native American scholars are not pleased with this POS.
Several native Americans applied for this position when Ward applied, but they were not even afforded an interview. The University dept heads did not even try to be polite.
Ward stole from these scholars, repeatedly.
Students that I know at CU are at the other end of the campus.
They say that the students at CU laugh at Ward and at that whole dept.
.
Yes, that's why their classes are just long "hate whitey" sessions.
