And those rates aren't going to stabelize any time soon. Check out Ernesto's track this morning.
Last night over many, many drinks while watching a sambista dance by our table, we were talking about the new rates we're facing. It's going to be a crushing increase and between Jan 2006 and February 2007 when my escrow begins to reflect the change, it will show a $450 a month increase for that period. No kidding, that will be ONLY insurance.
People toss out the old "Well, maybe you shouldn't live in Florida" comment. But we're talking about almost every single homeowner facing the same thing. This is not inconvenience, it is a crisis and to summarily dismiss it is ridiculous.
Wonder if Davis will do anything about it, its simple enough, either companies sell windstorm or they don't sell anything in FL and set up a state insurance program fo windstorm ony similiar to federal flood insurance with similiar premiums.
Why is it I can but 150K of FFI for about 300 bucks a year but the same windstorm now costs 3000?
