2. Pujols is certainly an exciting player, but not even his two-homer, seven-RBI performance in Tuesday night's game against the Mets could hold the attention of every fan. Former President Bill Clinton caught the game at Shea Stadium, and a camera caught him snoozing during the eighth inning with the Cardinals clinging to a 7-6 lead. Fortunately, Clinton rose to the occasion for Carlos Beltran's game-winning two-run homer in the ninth, waking in time to high-five fans sitting around him. Indeed, Shea Stadium in this turnaround season has certainly resembled a place called Hope.

Gotta agree with you on this one. As much as I love the Red Sox, I almost never watch regular season games, and rarely playoff games unless it involves the Sox(or Astros). Even then, I tend to channel surf.
Personally, I despise X42, but I fell asleep during Game 4 of the 2004 Series and missed the Red Sox finally ending the Curse. So I can't point fingers on this one.
Now college baseball is a bit different. Despite the fact they use those ridiculous aluminum bats, it's a more fun atmosphere(though my local school, which I went to, banned ice chests, coolers, and BBQ pits a few years ago--Damn them to Hell for that). Still, going to games back in the early 90's here and the occasional road trip to Baton Rouge for a game against LSU was an experience to remember. But still, it's more fun because usually, it's more down to earth.

So little ignorance it such a small space. I'm sure there are lots of new Mets fans, but I've been one for 35 years.
As for the playoffs and next year, I'll be more than happy to try our luck against the Yankees. Going forward, I'm pretty comfortable with two 23 year-old superstars on the left side of the infield, the best centerfielder in baseball, a first baseman who produces 35+, 100+ every year and a pitching staff with two hall of famers and a top five closer.
BTW, the Mets bought Wagner, but they traded for Delgado. I guess "buying" Giambi, Sheffield, Damon, Matsui, Johnson, Mussina, Pavano, Farnsworth, Wright, etc doesn't count.

As much as I dislike Clinton, I can understand falling asleep at a baseball came.
3 minutes of action crammed into 3 hours.
Agreed. Football is where it's at.

Sort of like John F'n Kerry, in an attempt to show what a regular joe he is, claiming that the non-existant Manny Ortiz is his favorite player on the BoSox. Way to relate to the little guy John. Stick to kite surfing or whatever it is that you do.

"I am a huge ( and I mean huge) Mets fan and what I found interesting about Clinton's visit to the game was that it elicited almost no interest. I read every NY daily sports section every day and there were no quotes from players about meeting him, no pictures from the clubhouse, nothing. It was a non event and if he hadn't fallen asleep no one would even know he was there. Must not have been any chubby teenage girls in his section." Dittos. I was so afraid that they were going to interview him at the end of that game, that I turned it off -- except for watching the great re-runs of Beltron's homer, the reception at home, and that wonderful delight shown by Randolph! Great wasn't it!
