RAMONA – Clint Hamilton says he'd rather be playing softball with his 10-year-old daughter.
Instead, the Ramona resident said “patriotic duty” pushes him to spend at least 20 hours a week trying to stop day laborers from gathering outside the downtown grocery store where he once shopped.
A one-man Minuteman army, Hamilton videotapes and photographs people hiring workers and said he's been criticized and threatened.
“All I ask them to do is get out of our parking lot,” he said.
Hamilton, 44, speaks in calm tones and wears a U.S. Border Patrol baseball cap. “I'm basically a nice guy,” he said.
Outside a doughnut store in the shopping center, men gathered for coffee on a recent morning said they don't see Hamilton that way.
“He's just racist,” said Antonio Murillo, 75, who buys a pastry and a cup of coffee and spends his mornings chatting with the workers, something he said he has done each morning for more than 15 years.

Since Hamilton's efforts began, the number of employers coming to the site has plummeted, about a dozen men looking for work said recently.
Hope he's taking his 10 year-old daughter with him.

Courageous kudos to Mr. Hamilton and others like him. It takes real courage to stare down these law breaking evil doers all the while looking it in the face. Others should take comfort and solace from this mans patriotic actions and acts of personal courage.
He's doing more for his daughter's future (any YOUR daughter's future and MY daughter's future) than playing softball with her. Or maybe you think all the fathers in George Washington's army should have left Valley Forge to spend more time with their kids?
This guy is a true patriot. More so than all the whiners who complain about illegal aliens but won't make any sort of personal sacrifice to do something about them!
Better yet, get out there and join him! Get involved with the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps in your area, or start a neighborhood watch program of your own. Just the fact that you are out there, observing and recording, puts a little paranoia into the illegals and the corrupt businesses who employ them.

So right Applebutter...that's the problem with a lot of Americans...they'd rather go on with their lives and watch their country go down the drain than get involved...
I think American citizens better get use to being called racists...illegal immigration supporters have adopted this tactic as they have no real defense for their position. I use to cringe at the term "racist" but in the last year I've gotten use to hearing it and it doesn't bother me at all...
That's the danger of over-using a word. It ultimately loses all meaning. The term "racist" can now mean anything from a rabid white supremicist to someone who simply doesn't agree blacks are owed reparations for slavery. There's some Ivy League professor (forget his name) who says ALL white people are AUTOMATICALLY racists because they enjoy "unearned benefits" from living in a society that has exploited nonwhites in the past. A white person would have to give away all his wealth (stolen from slaves); forget his education (slaves were denied education); and dye his skin (society equates white skin with beauty and goodness) to stop being a racist.

In my long history at FR, I don't think I've ever once advocated violence, and I'm not doing so now. That being said, I wouldn't shed a tear if these guys were to unload a can of whoop-ass on Hamilton.
Yeah, I know it's the new anti-PC to never admit that something is racist no matter how racist it is. The anti-PC is just as bad as the real thing. Sorry, I refuse to play the game. Hamilton obviously is upset about the browning of his little corner of the universe, and nothing more.
Be careful what you wish for. Either something has to be done to stop the illegal immigration, or there IS going to be conflict. You shouldn't have written that. But, you did.
I doubt many here on FR would shed any tears about you! If you want to live next door to legal Mexicans, head south!
