McCain heads overseas to observe global warming effects

Arizona Sen. John McCain will visit Greenland, Turkey, Georgia, Montenegro and Italy as part of a Senate delegation headed overseas during Congress' summer break.

McCain and the other Republican senators want to observe the effects of global warming while in Greenland. They also will attend an A-list economic and political conference at a swanky northern Italian resort.

McCain and U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn., favor legislation to cap industrial emissions in an effort to curtail global warming.

Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., Mel Martinez, R-Fla., Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., Richard Burr, R-N.C., and John Sununu, R-N.H., are slated to go on the congressional trip with McCain. The Greenland to Italy trip will start later this month and run through early September, McCain's office said Wednesday.

McCain has been crisscrossing the U.S. in recent months campaigning for fellow Republicans in key races and will continue those efforts through the November elections. The Arizonan is expected to run for president again in 2008 and is courting voters and key GOP supporters in battleground states such as Iowa, Florida, Ohio, South Carolina, New Hampshire and California.

I assume John McCain is going to walk & swim on this trip as not to burn fuel to contribute to the "global warming problem"?

What a nice Green Party platform.

If a plane full of politicians crashes into the sea, and nobody hears it, does it make a noise?

I hope it's the agressive kind. I don't think I can cope with the media treating him like a rock star when he gets back and lectures us about the global warming hoax.

So McCain is willing to burn hydrocarbon fuel, further polluting the environment to study global warming. I think he is missing something here..........

But then this just goes to show why this man will never be President of the United States.

The good news is that all of this fancy jet setting around western Europe and staying at swanky hotels and living like kings is being paid for by the American tax payer...

He only needs to look at his own fevered brain to find global warming.

Did he take a private jet? Will he be met on the ground with a small division of SUVs?

Yes, what a quaint little vacation these Senators have engineered for themselves.

And now to be completely sarcastic... I'm sure they will be working 15 hours a day studying this " global warming" while having barely enough time to taste their foi groi and champagne.

Maybe he can convince his buddy Teddy Kennedy to allow windmills offshore from his Hyannis compound.

All on the taxpayers' dime. I'm glad McCain can go on vacation on my dollar. I'm taking off next week from work to clean out my garage. Can't afford to take a vacation of my own.

Let us hope he will stay out of the country until after the 2008 election.
