Wages and weekly earnings of Arab and Muslim men living in the United States fell by 10 per cent following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, a new study shows.

In addition, the adverse affects of September 11 on wages were greater in areas that reported high rates of hate crime related to religious, ethnic or country of origin bias, according to the upcoming study in the Journal of Human Resources.

"I was surprised," Robert Kaestner, study co-author and University of Illinois at Chicago professor of economics, said of the findings.

"We see an immediate and significant connection between personal prejudice and economic harm."

Evidence also suggests the terrorists' attacks reduced intrastate migration, making Arab and Muslim men more reluctant to seek better opportunities in new destinations due to the uncertainty of their reception.

The study measured changes in wages of first- and second-generation immigrants from countries with predominantly Arab or Muslim populations between September 1997 and September 2005 and compared them to changes in wages of first- and second-generation immigrants with similar skills from other countries.

That's a crock. Everyone was effected by 9/11. I lost my job the next month after September 11th in October and was out of work for a year. I still haven't gotten completely on my feet yet and I'm not whining! These people are always looking for a reason to whine! They make me sick!

Remember, Islam (and many Arabic cultures) is steeped in what the Japanese would call "higaisha ishiki" ("VICTIM'S CONSCIOUSNESS"), in other words, 'victimhood'. Deeply entrenched. Little thought about the suffering of others, or perhaps that worldwide scourge of terrorism is about 98% traceable back to Islam, or cultural self reflection. It just seems to be the total, incontrovertible lack of an ability to stand in others' shoes, but just whine and complain (and often take to arms) over one's own narrow lot and perceived injustices.

Surprised? What planet is this idiot from? 19 ARAB men fly planes into the 2 largest buildings in the US, destroying the buildings, and killing over 3,000 Americans and he expected no backlash?!

The government can pass all the laws they want, but you can't force people to think how you want them to think. I would say the majority of Americans distrust Arabs in general, muslims in particular. We all know the "moderate" Arabs don't condemn the murderers. I think many Americans have become educated about islam, and the goal of overwhelming and overpowering infidels.

This guy can shove it. And as for the muslims... deal with it, start to stand up against the evil do-ers or get the heck out.

One note of caution... there is such a thing as a Christian Arab. Especially if they're from Lebanon. But, I'm with you, I don't patronize muslim anything.
