A sergeant who examined the scene hours after Marines killed two dozen Iraqis in Haditha last year said the shootings appeared to be an appropriate response to a coordinated insurgent attack, according to a sworn statement obtained by The Washington Post.

Sgt. J.M. Laughner, part of a Marine human-intelligence exploitation team that was hunting down insurgent bombmakers, went from house to house in Haditha on Nov. 19, 2005, and acknowledged finding two dozen bodies, including some of women and small children.

But Laughner said the scenes of the slayings appeared to match the version of events the Marine squad provided that day and did not seem especially out of the ordinary, according to a transcript of Laughner's interview with military investigators in March.

Yep imagine that. And the Marines did exactly the right thing. These men deserve our eternal gratitude and Murtha deserves a noose.

>>>>>Laughner also said that 30 Jordanian passports and large amounts of cash were found in a home near the shooting scenes.<<<<<

I've been reading articles on this event from the very beginning and this is the first mention of the money and passports that I recall. It seems Murtha and the hack journalists didn't report on all that took place.

Several Marines are under criminal investigation in connection with the civilian deaths that day, but no one has been charged.

Dammit to hell I'm getting sick and tired of hearing about "civilian deaths". Every GD terrorist is a "civilian".

Sheesh, its not like they wear name tags.

Hi, My Name Is Ahkmed.
I'm A Terrorist.

And they are NOT "insurgents"!

First common sense statement I've heard about this incident.

Don't even bother telling John Abu al-Murtha..... if he would convict our Marines in public before any judicial proceeding has occurred he certainly won't care what any Marine Sergeant on the scene with expertise in counter-terror operations might have had to say about it all......

I'm sure that 30 foreign passports and large amounts of cash would be standard household items for every Iraqi. /s

First I've heard of it as well.

Later this morning I obtained a hard copy of the ComPost. This story was buried in the back of the section, toward the bottom. Some things never change.

The media is shameless. They knew this piece brought forth information that hadn't been brought out previously but it was detrimental to Murtha and the case against the Marines so they buried it.

We know Murtha lied about his source being General Hagee when he first shot his mouth off on national TV about Marines massacreing civilians, General Hagee didn't brief him until a week later.

Neither Murtha nor the media has come out with an explanation for that lie and I don't call someone a liar loosely, it is a fact he lied. Murtha has ignored it and so has the media.

I don't know anything about the House Ethics Committe or the circumstances under which a Congessman can be investigated but I would think when a Congressmsn out and out lies they would look into it.

What say you?

We can't even get a Republican Congressman to stand up and publicly berate Murtha for his heinous behavior and words, so I am not holding my breath they'll doing anything official to this festering boil on the butt of humanity.

What say you?

Please remember.....you asked and I am in a bit of a foul mood today. ;*)

I don't know anything about the House Ethics Committee
Oxymoron!

or the circumstances under which a Congressman can be investigated
#1 .....you MUST be a Republican.
#2 .....regardless if you did anything wrong or not you will be investigated.
#3 .....demonRATS are immune to any and all investigations and/or prosecutions.
#4 .....refer to #1.

but I would think when a Congressman out and out lies they would look into it.

I think that was the prerequisite in the past.
